All IPT World Open Players & IPT 2007 Tour Card Qualifier Participants

Dear All,

This letter is to give you some updates on the IPT and final prize money payment details.

First, all players in the IPT World Open Championship will receive continuing payments of their prize money on or about September 15th, October 15th, November 15th, and December 15th, 2007. You will be paid in full by the last payment on December 15th. I sincerely appreciate your letters and telephone calls of support and encouragement over the last year. We will all be very happy when you are all paid in full. When this happens, I will be proud to say that the IPT has paid out over $6 million in prize money to professional pool players. No organization in history has paid out so much added prize money to pool players. It continues to be our goal to continue the IPT and produce events for players who are paid substantial prize money and who can earn a great living doing what you all love to do…shoot pool!

For All Players Who Participated in the IPT Tour Card Qualifying Tournaments

The IPT business model is being modified in a substantial way. We do intend (although there are no guarantees) to sponsor tournaments starting in 2008. However, due to the fact that the 2007, 2008, and 2009 schedules will be different than those that we represented previously, the IPT is going to initiate the following action steps for you, the players who participated in the qualifying tournaments:

For all those players who came in first or second, the IPT is going to give you a 100% refund of all your entry fee money. This refund will be paid to you in six monthly installments starting September 30, 2007. Because of your success in the tournaments, you will also be given free entry into all (if any) IPT tournaments through the end of 2013.

For all players who entered a 2007 Tour Card Qualifying Tournament and didn’t come in first or second, the IPT would like to extend to you two options:

You may request a full refund of all of your entry fees payable in six monthly installments starting September 30th, 2007. If you choose to enter any upcoming IPT tournaments (if any), you will be required to pay the appropriate entry fee at that time.
If you choose not to receive a refund of your entry fees, the IPT will give you free entry in all (if any) IPT tournaments through the end of 2013.
Please think about which option you will choose- option 1 or option 2. In the coming days, you will be emailed a form to fill out and return to the IPT indicating your choice. I sincerely appreciate your enthusiasm and commitment to the IPT by participating in these qualifying tournaments. Although the IPT has gone through a major transition, it will always be my intention to make sure that you, the players, are treated fairly, and given first priority. We are committed to you.

The Future of the IPT-

We are close to having a fully revised business model for the IPT. We will be giving you more details in the coming months. The IPT office has been instructed to send out an email every two weeks with updates and answers to questions that are commonly being asked. This will start in September and hopefully will help to keep you up to date on the IPT as we prepare to re-launch the tour.

There are two formats that we will be pursuing:

One-on-One live matches broadcast on the IPT website. By the end of this year, the IPT will start having live one-on-one matches broadcast on the IPT website. These will be heads-up matches with long races consisting of great players and match-ups, with a couple of twists of course. These matches will be broadcast on the IPT website and available for viewing all over the world to paying members of the IPT web site. These matches will have live commentary. They will be archived and available for viewing at any time in the future to members of the IPT web site. We intend on investing substantial resources in advertising these matches through various media outlets such as television, newspapers, magazines, radio, and the Internet.
Future Tournaments- the IPT does intend on having large tournaments in the future. It is our intention to have an IPT 2008 World Open 8-Ball Championship! We intend on having all the prize money held in escrow by a well respected accounting firm available for verification by all players. This event will be broadcast in the highest quality, live on the IPT web site. Selected matches from this tournament may also be broadcast on TV media outlets as the IPT has done in the past.

I want to personally thank the vast majority of players for their overwhelming support and encouragement. It would be very easy to throw in the towel and simply say that the IPT business venture did not work. However, my love for pool and my strong desire to see the players elevated to a high level both financially as well as in respect from the sports community has given me the motivation to take the heat and continue to press forward. Nothing would please me more than in the next few years to see the IPT in full swing all around the world. It has been said that the success of the man is not determined by how high he climbs, but rather by how high he bounces when he hits the bottom! Failing in business is common. Stumbling, falling, and hitting the bottom is also common. What is not common is to see a man get up and fight again. There are no guarantees for the future and where the IPT will go, only time will tell. What is guaranteed is that there are dedicated people at the IPT whose persistence, determination, and vision for its success is unwavering.

Hopefully in the next few weeks, we will be giving you updates on the first of many one-on-one heads-up matches that will be broadcast on the IPT web site. Thank you again for your support, patience, and many words of encouragement.

Very truly yours,

Kevin Trudeau

That Kevin Trudeau guy is a genious! Why didn't anyone else think of that!?! :D

At least we are hearing something from the snake charmer. Like a wise man once said, the proof is in the pudding! :) Show them the money!

still dealing

I see KT is still dealing. He has committed to paying off the winners of the qualifiers.(note taking six months to pay this off after paying the players he still owes big event prize money to) However he is offering the other players in the qualifiers the opportunity to get paid back or gamble that it will be worthwhile to have entry into events that may or may not happen through 2013. No word of the size or value of these events. If there are hundreds of players with free entry into these events it looks a lot like we are back to an unworkable business model unless his events are going to pay out about the same as the local monthly tournaments. Another possibility is a huge round robin that is expensive to participate in due to time and then free entry means little since most players will be gone well before any money stage. Regardless, once you sign on the dotted line you have forfeit your right to recover your entry fee for the qualifier.

The truth is that pool players don't have anything better on the table and they will flock to KT once again if he starts waving money at them. I'll just repeat what I said at the beginning of the IPT, play one event at a time and don't count any chickens before they are hatched!

Yes, you have a good idea (I immediately thought of you when I read about the "one-on-one live matches"). It will be interesting to see how sustainable it is ... all the best of luck to both you and the IPT and let's hope this leads to bigger and better things for promoters, players, and fans.

What about the guaranteed salaries of 100K for the top 100? Is that supposed to be just forgot about? I am glad to see the rest of the prize money is gonna be paid.

waaayeeelll you see it's like this

That was promised for the 2007 season. Since there was no 2007 season no moneys are due. Funny how things work out if you just give them time.

It's funny how I never hear the players that played on the IPT complain. But I don't think the tour would get much support from the fans...wait a minute...it didn't last time either. Johnnyt

You must not know the players I do. To me it seems split about 50/50 between outright hatred and resigned indifference. Lot of guys are too smart to burn any bridges by letting fly in public. I will admit that a lot of the guys I have spoke with about it have the attitude of "It was OK while it lasted...on to the next thing" Which I think is a pretty good attitude to have if you wanna stay sane.

I hope all the players get at least what they are owed. As for KT putting on more events, I will believe it when I see it.

This has to be great news for all the players who are owed money or who participated in qualifiers. I think you will find the players who can play will shift from the 50/50 you mentioned to 90%+ positive after the money gets paid and the tournaments start.

Think about it: Someone offers you a get rich opportunity, it tanks and they owe you money. They pay you part and you figure you are stiffed on the rest. Then they come and pay you off completely and they want you to play again. Just about everybody I know plays.

All KT needs to do to see if he has support is have people fill out an application or they won't play on the tour. I guarantee you he gets 5 times the applications he did when he originally started.

You may be right on the 50/50 split but IF they do another tour stop I'll bet more than 75% of them play in it. Johnnyt

PS. Believe me I'm in no way on Trudeau's side in this. I just would like to see the pro's make some money. As far as a business model...just change it to 25% of what they had and I believe he would get a full turn out and the tour would last until a major sponsor or two came aboard.

You get no argument from me on this.

And when those people get led around by the nose and have their lives turned upside down for chasing their dream because a criminal told them it would pay, I will still feel for them.

I love this game. The one thing I hate about it is the seemingly low moral expectations of many who participate. If guys like KT (who tells sick people not to go to doctors) are the future of pool, you can have it.

Both of my parents died from long battles with terminal cancer. For those who have went through this you know how hellish it is. The thing is people who are really sick start looking for any hope. That is what KT does for money. He sells false hope. Our house was full of crackpot diet books, and alternative medicine and obscure cures books. All false, all cruel scams for money. I have felt the pain of seeing some one you love have their hopes pumped up only to see them come crashing down. Just so some POS somewhere can make a buck.

I don't care if KT made pool as popular as the NFL. I would have nothing to do with it. You are who you associate with.

I want to make clear that all things I say on this topic are my views alone. I do not speak for Chad or anyone else involved in TAR.

I have to agree with this. I can't ever really respect anyone who earns their money selling quack medical cures. In addition the worst aspect of the whole IPT experience to date was those blatant lies and the old-school "checks in the post" deceipt in the days and weeks following their last tournament. Even for people with no opinion on KT's other commercial ventures this swept away the layer of respectability he had been cultivating and replaced it with his ugly past of pyramid schemes and mail fraud.

And what of poor Mr. Ho, who had such high hopes of being permitted to partner with the IPT in their multi-million merger? Who will look after his many children and grandchildren now?

But seriously, all this aside, the recent debate on the UPA shows one thing very clearly: There's still nothing better in US Pool than the IPT. If they did actually put on events again in 2008 at even 25% the prize purses of 2006 they will get 90% of the Pro Pool world playing in them. We, as fans, will have little choice but to follow IPT events if we want to follow Pro Pool. There is simply no getting around the fact that a few million dollars per year can buy and sell Pro Pool.

Don't a number of players owe Mark Trainer a cut (by CONTRACT) ?
Doug

Don't worry about old Mark. The money comes through him FIRST!

KT's informercials must be bringing in the $$$ to declare this. What has Mike S. have to say?

Whatever he's selling, I'm not buying! If he was sincere (that's an oxymoron by the way), he would pay all monies owed right now. He has dragged the payments out on a July, 2006 tournament until December, 2007. HELLO! This is a new record for "prompt" payment of prize monies!

One clue, he is looking to sign up more people for his internet feeds. Ding, Ding, Ding on your credit card. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Some people people never learn. And that's why guys like KT continue to thrive.
