I think I’ve told the story here before, but I saw Corey play Carlo Biado bar box 8 ball in the action room at the Derby the year before Carlo won the world nine ball championship. Carlo is amazing, but he just made it too hard for himself by playing the patterns wrong, and Corey destroyed him at a time when Corey had no chance to beat him playing 9 foot rotation games. That’s exactly the same thing I saw today with Rodney.

Both played good patterns, and run out on most visits to the table. the big difference was in the break.
Coming from English pool, requires higher discipline.
Sure took them (the British) time to adjust to the bigger balls, but once they got this down, they rule UP.

Bergman on paper, should win. He played with the big boys of pool, we won pro events, he is seasoned and experienced.
But that’s in the past and Tom is currently the best barbox player.
And I believe the difference will be in mentality strength, and here I believe that Tom will cone on top. Bergman will lose more breaks to Tom.
Justin kinda choked in the last WNT event in his hometown, I bet, he’ll choke tonight.

The English players have an advantage coming from Black Ball that is played on a harder table that requires to be more accurate.

It’s no different when the pros play nineball. they make the 1 in the side 95 percent of the time, and if they can see the two they’re pretty much out.

Check the stats
There are less runouts in 9ball with WNT rules than you might think.
But why compare to 9ball?
Why not compare to 8ball on 9ft tables with tight pockets.
I doubt if Tom tries out a big 8ball event, that he will get far, definitely not at start without enough practice and experience.
Put him on a 9ft table with 4 inch pockets against Filler and he’ll get smoked, same for Bergman…

So Rodney is playing a 25k match and right after Bergman is playing a 100k match?! No backers on the planet would put those two in! Call me skeptical. Ppv money grab here we come!
 
Clicked on stream lasted 90 seconds listening to archer. I wonder if Johnny is going to interview the loser after the match.

I make the comparison because most think 8ball is too easy. Watching pros play nineball is just as easy IMO. Like I said earlier they are making the 1 in the side almost every time, and sometimes they are just playing 7 ball after the break.

well that's not my argument.
8ball is a different game and it's just as hard if not harder. the difficulties are in different aspects of the games so really hard to compare and should not be compared.

My argument is that 8ball on a barbox with big pockets is not as hard as 8ball on a tight 9ft table. in fact it's much easier and having pros play in such conditions is nothing more that a joke, cheap entertainment for the masses.

Cousins scratched on the break. It's ball in hand behind the head string after a pocket scratch on the break (but incoming player can shoot in any direction). Justin shot from near the side pocket instead of behind the head string.

Edit -- if the breaking foul is cue ball off the table, its ball in hand anywhere on the table.
