    Missing a shot on purpose?

Think it would depend upon what rules you are playing by. I play in a bar box 8 ball league with mostly bar rules, no BIH on fouls, call pocket, an honest effort must be made to make your ball, and no safeties Truth is, most of the top players will miss the first shot or two and let the lesser...

    Pasadena TX Junior Program Update

Marcus, Have you looked into using an after hours club/teen billiard parlor that's usually closed during the day. The owner could expect to benefit when these kids get to be 18 to 21 and need a place to hang out in the evenings. Maybe an idea for an entrepreneur.

For all you old farts with cataracts. How has it affected your game. Has it made it worse? What can I expect having been diagnosed with a mild case?

I learned about 3-ball last night....

How have most of you rack them? The times I've played we have always rack 3 in a row. I would think racking in a triangle would be much too easy to make balls on the break. It's a fun game and really gets exciting when everybody has several dollars in the pot.

Playing with a hat on, does it help?

I always wear a cap but it has to be a special cap with a short wide bill. I find that it helps block glare and I seem to focus better. Many bills are too long and interferes with vision, which forces me to wear those backwards.

    Is Players cues infiltrating?

I break and play with my sp player's 20 hours every week for the past 6 years. It's still very straight. Best $40 I every spent. So what if it's not a work of art. An impressive cue isn't going to put more balls in the pocket. Besides I never have to worry about it being stolen.

APA no 3 Foul Rule Question.

This thread wasn't started to bash APA. APA isn't a perfect system. I think most can agree but presently it's the only game in town. No one addressed the deliberate misses by the opponent which must be ok for him rather than taking a chance and opening up the balls. It's wasn't like the 8...

APA no 3 Foul Rule Question.

The game is 8 ball with opponent on the 8 and the 8 is clustered with my last ball. He purposely shoots to miss. I get BIH and plays a soft safety. He again misses on purpose. I take BIH and again play a soft safety. He again shoots and on purpose misses. I finally attempted a bank, missed and...

    My first APA game tonight.

Any tricks on how to remember to do this? I get so focused on making the shot I forget to mark it.

lost it then found it, now can't play

I just started APA as well and will be playing my best. If I get raised to a seven it will mean I will have to be fullly focused in order to continue to win. I'm playing for myself and careless about winning a trip.

    Do You Tell Em?

Mine neighbor plays occasionally, could be a very good player if his wife didn't object to his coming out to a billiard club. She thinks that pool players and establishments are full of corrupt and demoralizing people. Pool halls still carry a bad stigma for many people so, I do not tell those...

What makes for a good break cue?

A lighter cue to generate more speed to get big power breaks on a 9 foot like those light weight Asian women do probably helps but for a league player as myself playing on 7 and 8 foot those kind of power breaks just increases the odds of a scratch. I would like to see what the experts say...

What is the best value sneaky Pete?

Get a Players for around $60, under 50 if you watch for a sell. Love my Players. I've had it over 7 years. Play and break with it several hours every week still straight as an arrow. I love the feel of wood and prefer nothing on my shaft so sanded the finish coating off. Hasn't effected it's...

    Loose Rack

Several tables in the league I play on, it's difficult to get a tight 8 ball rack, unless you push the rack up which makes it easier for the breaker to pocket a ball. What to do if you are racking for the opponent without tapping the balls in? How to break when you know the rack is loose that...

    San Antonio

Will be hanging out at the RiverWalk for several days this summer and would like some suggestions. Are there any descent 8 or 9 foot tables in the area that's not full of kids and ruffians? Where's a good watering hole in the evenings when not at the tables? Good restaurants that's reasonable...

Getting back in the game after Neck fusion

I had a fusion on C4-5-6 9yrs ago. I wasn't playing pool at the time but I think it was over 6 months before the doc told me I was good to go and do most anything. I have to limit practice to about 2 hours as usually I will get headaches from the constantly tilting my head back. It takes much...
