What is the greatest compliment someone has given you?

I think the best compliment I've ever received was from an old time three cushion player that passed away years ago. He said I had an "educated stroke" and I thought wow that's nice and coming from someone I had a great deal of respect and admiration for made it even better. Philw

My best friend and I are currently engaged in a race to 5,000.

Aren't you afraid of the luck factor coming into play in such a short race? Maybe you should play 100 ahead for a sawbuck or the time.

That time of year for Onepocketeers

Ragbug 74 I agree! Melvin "Strawberry" Brooks was inducted but died shortly before the award dinner. Thankfully he enjoyed the fact that his years dedicated to the game was being recognized by his peers. Philw

How would you play this? Tough leave on the 6

lol My thoughts almost exactly. Why would anyone create more of a problem than already exists. Thats a nice trick shot but no reason to risk selling out. Philw

    Commercial time

I saw Terry Ardeno's post and checked out your site last night Fred. A couple of very nice shots I'm sure it will attract many students of the game who love to play banks. That first shot isn't a kiss shot? It looked wierd but very impressive. Philw

Getting the most from your game

Bill, I try to calm myself when I play. Breathing exercises work well. Having a martial arts background you learn that proper breathing can calm your nerves and allow you to perform at peak level. I think it also increases your level of focus. Another way I have found to distract myself from the...

    Jeff Kaletta passes

Jack I hadn't had chance to talk to Jeff since he moved down south but while looking at some YouTube coverage of the DDC I could have sworn I saw Jeff sitting with the spectators sweating a good match. I guess I was right according to your post. Jeff was a friend of mine for well over 20 yrs...

    Congrats to Jude Rosenstock!

Congrats Jude! Maybe some of your improvement came from being open minded and observant (Jude's thread about making your 9ball runout easier). Whatever the reason way to go we all would like to raise our level of play so it's good to see when someone achieves that goal. Philw

    Jeff Kaletta passes

Jeff Kaletta has passed away. I just received an email and was shocked to hear it. Jeff played pool in Chicago mostly at the Chicago Billiard Cafe and Chris's. I must have played thousands of games of 9ball with him throughout the eighties and nineties. He fought some adversity having lost a leg...

9-ball - One way to increase your chances of getting out

This is a simple but effective shot to do as you said Jude, make the rack easier. Efren seems to find these things too. By the way Tony Rodriquez used to play out of the Chicago Billiard Cafe in the "80's" I really enjoyed watching his game. I'm sure he wouldn't remember me but I'm glad to see...

This thread might cause some problems but your opinion requested

First off as a Chicagoan who has seen Freddie play many top players I would like to say I never saw him ducking anyone who came to town. I've seen Freddie play Bugs, Efren, Incardona, Melvin "Strawberry" Brooks to name a few and if you look at his list I can say there is no embellishing there...
