Hello everyone. As some of you may know, Ray has been battling health issues for a while and has recently been hospitalized the past several weeks. Unfortunately, this past Saturday Ray lost his battle and this world has lost a very fine man.
Several of us in the Albuquerque area, tonight at a weekly, learned of Ray's passing and reflected back on what a wonderful man he was and all the joy & good he did.
Ray has been here on AZ a long time and I'm sure many of you will miss him as I will.
My condolences go out to his family & all that knew this wonderful man. Services for Ray will be held here in ABQ this Saturday. Please take a moment to remember Ray and say a prayer for his family.
Thank you all.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of this news. We exchanged many PMs over the years. I did not know he was ill.

He had a genuinely kind and loving spirit about him. I will miss him terribly.

For those who may not recognize him, here is his AzBilliard's Profile ---> HERE

RIP, Rayjay. Save me a seat on the rail. I will miss you.

R.i.p rayjay

I'm saddened to hear this. I had the pleasure to meet Ray while on two business trips to Albuquerque last year. He was a gracious host as he welcomed me into his circle of friends at Doc & Eddie's and we spent a few afternoons playing pool. Condolences to his family and friends. I'm sure they will miss you as will your beloved pups.

RayJay was a true gentleman with a heart as wide as all outside. He and I 'chatted' off and on for years...and I considered him a dear friend. He will be missed.

RIP, sir. Love ya.

his last post. my heart goes out to his family, but especially to his dogs.

With the right schtick, and a good proofreader and financier, almost any book can be a moneymaker when marketed correctly. Keep the faith & be smart, life is a hustle, many have done much more with much less. Take care.

Rip buddy. He was a nice guy and had the same passion in regards to dogs that my wife and myself have from what I heard. My condolences to the family.

I just hate it when we lose a member on here....it's like losing a family member.

It's really sad when the member we lose was a truly good person...and ambassador of the game that Rayjay was!!!

R.I.P., my friend...and condolences to family and friends!!!

Rayjay referred to *himself* as his dog, Micah's (rip) companion for 10 years, not the other way around.

He was a true animal lover and in my experience, that seems to be a pretty good indicator about a person's character.

I have had some very enjoyable interactions here over the years with Rayjay. Never met him but, as others have said, it really does feel like a family member has passed.

Here is something he wrote just last month:

"We're blessed when we find unconditional love, and with the exception of my wife, have never found it except through my dogs. God bless, Jimmy, you'll find it again."

Rest in peace, Rayjay.

My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.

best,

Very sad news. I've known Ray since way before Azbilliards and since way before the internet. Ray was a really good, honest, caring man with a heart of gold - and that was reflected in the words that he shared with all of us here. He was just as nice to talk to and to visit with in person - I will definitely miss him. My prayers go out to his entire family. Until we meet again ... rest in peace my friend.

Blackjack, it is so sad. Thank you for sharing the link about his passing to me.

Here is the information:

JOHNSTON, RICHARD (DICK) HARVEY A residence of Albuquerque since 1976, he passed away on April 15th, 2014. Dick is survived by his wife Beverly; two sons, Rick and Andy; grandchildren, Taylor, John Michael and Nicholas; sister, Susan Farady; brother, Mike Johnston and Meigs, his faithful companion. Dick relocated to Albuquerque from Denver, Colorado while working in real estate development. He was responsible for numerous developments within the Albuquerque Metro area. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Animal Humane Society of New Mexico.

I'm very sad to hear this. I never knew RAY JAY personally, but now that I've learned of his great love for animals, I wish I had. Prayers to his family and friends.
