Just returned from DCC. Seems like a whole lot of renovations going on at the hotel/casino. Anyone know if any of this will result in more table space for DCC? They sure could use it.

I was told that they do not plan any more convention/meeting space. The current event fills up the hotel, so they cannot sell any more room nights unless they build a bigger hotel. Considering the location and the options in Louisville, I suspect that DCC is the largest event at the Horseshoe. There's no point in building more room that will be used for just one week per year.Just returned from DCC. Seems like a whole lot of renovations going on at the hotel/casino. It doesn't matter how many tables you have.
It's more about waiting for the draw !!!
Gonna need more days if any other events are added.
Yes, no more 14.1 Challenge at DCC.why will 4 more tables be available ? Is the straight pool challenge not going to happen ?
If so,, what can we do to make it happen ? ...
One of these years they will wise up and institute the "Grady" rule for the One Pocket and watch what a huge difference that will make! They almost did it this year but got talked out of it by a few very vocal opponents. Too bad, once more one big cluster f'ck in the scheduling of matches.
What is the Grady rule?
Yes, no more 14.1 Challenge at DCC.
Various things happened so that the organizers no longer wanted to put in the time and money.
You can make it happen by raising $20k for the added money, showing up and putting in the required 200+ hours of work. Assuming that the DCC would accept new management for the event.

I feel I have spent enough winter vacations in southern Indiana, so you are on your own.... Would you be wiling to help me, or someone keep this running ? ...

Bob, I have a few ideas.
1. no match tournament for the final 8, just the daily awards.
2. no score keepers required, each player must score their own runs.
(like golf honor system)
3. only need someone to manage the table assignments.
4. players must volunteer an hour or two of their time to help run it.
5. no need for 20 grand added. (most players would play for a 5 dollar bill).
Would you be wiling to help me, or someone keep this running ?
Let me hear your thoughts,
thanks.
Jay Helfert, you are my buddy for over 50 years, forget that Grady Rule stuff. It completely changes the game such that we don't recognize it anymore. The matches got played, nothing got carried over and with all the participants it actually went quite well. The TD and staff did invoke a rule that after I think 2 1/2 hours of a match they the staff would go to the table and if it wasn't in the last game then the Grady Rule would be used. Too my knowledge this never had to be utilized.
