Unindentified Pool Cue - 06-15-2019, 05:15 PM

I just purchase a cue from a friend and the inkling is that it is a Balabushka, remember the word, "inkling". I've had three Balabushka's in my hand, two were purchased from George at his shop and one was purchased in Kokomo, IN, years ago. The cue is as solid and straight as you'd want, it seems to be old school, there are no markings on it that I can see, the previous owner said that it had the band on it under the wrap by the points, don't know how that could be verified. The wrap has a spray over and not sure if its original or somebody did it later, I think the latter because the wrap has that well used look? The butt is 29" and 16.7oz, the shaft is 29 3/8" and 3.7oz. The butt cap is delrin. I know AZ is like the encyclopedia of pool so maybe somebody can shed some light on this jewel, I hope so, Larry in Indiana.

I would post more pics but don't know how, and I've tried?

So have I, have a Clint Putman with the exact trim rings, but Clint signs his under the bumper? The veneers look like French veneers and have that translucent appearance. I own a Jimmie Ingram made with a Szamboti blank and it looks identical to this one, another question mark? Thanks for the response....Larry

I don't know what it is, but my intuition says it's not a Balabushka.

Jensen?

I'd at least try to have Barry look at it before settling for "question mark."

That was my first thought, so, I googled it, and all the Horns had much sharper inlays.

I know it's not marked and I'm
just guessing but I've seen some
Tim Scruggs with short diamonds
and that ringwork

I never saw a Balabushka with ivory diamonds or dots or inlays
with rounded points

I would put the odds at over 1000 to one,no Balabushka

i had a Szamboti with similar inlay pattern but the inlays were sharper edge
I would think it was someones attempt to emulate

Take a close look at the diamonds. The diamonds in buttsleeve are different than the ones in the points. I would put them being done by 2 different people and none may be original to the cue.
