I think it is a Good Idea! - Pool Shoes.

I like the idea of Pool shoes especially designed with the
Pool player in mind. I have emailed Reebok, Nike, and
even Deno about this idea. If Kevin was to develop this,
he could have signature IPT shoes, and perhaps recover
some of his capital outlay for the IPT tour.

Lots of variety could be done as far as dressing them up
and the styles. Crossed lil cues, little figures shooting,
8 and 9 balls on them, or a trio of different balls, IPt logo,

Imagine a neat pair with a photo type image of Efrren on
the top looking at you or shooting as someone walked up to you.

It seems like a nice finishing touch for a 'Pool outfit', something
that really might catch on with teenagers and early 20's crowd
for casual wear.

(yes, I like my shoes to look good with my clothes, I have
dark blue denim shoes, gray leather casual shoes, dark tan suede shoes, you get the idea ... lol)

Of course, they would have to be comfortable, and padded
REAL WELL. I think it is a money maker. What do you think?

I know every pool player would buy at least 1 pair for each of
his or her family ... lol

Pool shoes are silly. Some places have tile floors some wood some carpet. Its not like bowling shoes or for that matter sneakers for basketball or cleats for golf.
Sorry if I am raining on your parade but, thats just my take on the subject. Maybe it will go over with the ladies, they are usually into their shoes.

I don't know what is more pathetic - your idea or the fact that I actually spent time typing this reply.

The shoe idea is about as good as the chalk on a stick idea but after all most hardcore league players and wannabes worldwide have one of those chalk sticks hanging out of their pocket. So there may be a market for pool shoes i m sure all the groupie types would love them.

Guess I'm a wannabe because I use one of those chalk on a stick thingies. There are some advantages to it, ICYDK: nobody stealing the chalk from an adjoining table to mess with your mental game; no opponents hogging the chalk and grinding while you look for it; no craters to mess your ferrule up with; no chalk mess on your hands from picking up someone elses chalk slop; a calm moment to think and help standardize your pre-shot routine; the chalk's shape that is right for your stroking motion, etc. etc...

Yup that gives you wanna be status and with the relationship you seem to have with your chalk holder i d say you got the whole pool groupie thing going for you to

Yes, I have a friend here in town that makes the good ones, out of
leather with conchos on them, and a realistic house cue on the other
end. Natural color is $18, Red and black ones are $20 each. He takes
360 to Vegas 3 times a year (BCA, VNEA, & APA Nationals) and sells out
of them every time. Plus what he sells normally during the year. Just think
if he had a national distribution system. They are all hand made.

I don't see why the idea of Billiard shoes seems so unreasonable to some
people, after all there is all types of other billiard clothing that players
love to wear. Shoes have been specialized for all kinds of sports in the
last few years, they even have 'Badminton shoes'. It is not like a shoe
company has to completely redesign something. I am sure they could modify
some of their line, and slap some Pool stuff on them, and they would be
good to go. I don't know, I see opportunity here, maybe there isn't.

I was wondering what you considered other types of billiard clothing? I m assuming you are talking about specialized shoes that serve a purpose for pool. What other billiard clothing is out there and i dont mean like 'deadstroke' or hustlin tee shirts.

Actually, I overheard a few pool players discussing the topic of pool shoes recently.

Some high-profile venues require a male player to wear leather shoes and no sneakers. It was stated that many brands of dress leather shoes for men are uncomfortable to shoot pool in, much less stand on your feet all day long during a tournament.

The important features the players agreed on were that the shoes must be lightweight and comfortable, but most important, it is imperative that they have traction on the bottom of the shoe to prevent slippage, made of rubber.

Having experienced shoe-shopping recently for men's dress shoes, I realize that dress shoes and playing pool poses a problem for some male pool players.

A friend of mine started those Pocket Chalkers. Jesse is on my BCA team. Here is her website, Beads and Billiards: http://www.beadsandbilliards.com/. She told me she is getting out of beads and changing the name, but can't remember what it was.

And yes, I think there is a market for nice comfortable pool shoes, especially for the ladies. I like dressy heeled shoes when I shoot, but for standing long periods of time, they just aren't practical. I have a few that are comfy for hours, but they are hard to find. For men, a basic black and brown dress shoe, maybe with a subtle embossed logo, but made for comfort (especially for wood or concrete floors) would probably be a no-brainer. I think it would be cute to have a whole pool picture on the sole, for when you have one leg up in the air, reaching for a shot. Unexplored advertising real estate! lol

For women, again, dressy sandals, boots, and shoes...I would be the sucker that buys them. Of course, I also have a whole book on the evolution of shoes and I bought TWO pairs of these white tennies with pool balls all over them! :D

JAM,
until the perfect shoe is available. You may be able to solve the traction problem, by sticking 'shower anti-slip decals' to the bottoms of the dress shoes. I hate, when leaning over the table, my foot slides out from under me.

Bostonian imports an Italian tan leather shoe with rubber soles that work great for me. They're smooth leather and will take a decent shine. From the "Strada" line, very comfortable and look great. Picked them up at a Bostonian outlet for $50.

I would buy a pair of pool shoes if I thought that there was even a chance that it would help my game. I don't think that it is a bad idea at all. JMHO, FWIW

I would like to Try Playing Pool Barefooted, but the room I play in requires foot wear. That Room has nice NEW CARPET.

Jennie, y'all could try wearing the specialised shoes that restaurant employees wear. They're designed for long-term comfort since waitstaff are standing and walking around all day and/or night. I have a pair that are comfortable and look like a regular pair of loafers.

dress shoes

I used to wear rockports a lot for work and they are pretty comfy for walking and wearing. Very lightweight. I think the Ecco and SAS would be something I would consider if I had to wear dress shoes to play in. They are not something you would wear with a suit, but for black shoes that you could play in they would be my picks.

I recently switched to new balance for running shoes. 991s are really good to everyday wear and playing pool. Shox seem to hurt my feet after a while. I used to collect nike shoes so the switch was a big jump for me.
