Hint subtlety but noticeably that you have a firearm on your person, no need to show it to them or verbalize where or what kind of firearm it is....just make sure that they know you have one. From then on the match will almost definitely go in your favor no matter what the spot is, plus you never have to worry about getting stiffed or making it out of the pool hall/parking lot safely when you win. =)

Edit: I believe it was about 1996-1997 playing on the front tables at the old Hollywood Billiards, matched up with a 7/$50 9-ball game against Shorty who played pretty well and was the better player by a ball or so. I was losing 4-5 I think and really wanted to win so I was super focused on the match, so much so that I noticed that Shorty had a well worn outline on the rear pocket of his jeans...the outline of a revolver. Right about then my motivation and emotions kind of did a little hiccup so that winning all of a sudden wasn't at the top of the priority list, I was pretty sure he wasn't going to rob/kill me if I won but there was the smallest iota in the back of my head that was scared of exactly that happening.
Of course I waited till after I lost the set to ask him about the pistol in his pocket to which he explained that he sleeps in his car so he needs a way to protect himself and his property. Shorty was a very nice man and playing him was always a learning experience even though at 23-24 I was a really shitty student and couldn't recognize a lesson if it hit me in the face. So if you were wondering why I posted the above suggest THAT is why I posted what I posted, the firsthand knowledge about how a small thing like your opponent knowing that you have a firearm on your person, it changes things ever so slightly.
