#1 pool hall in america?

My PICKS

I have been around a few rooms some to mention are.

Kiss ShotS in JUPITER FLA. The Miz used to play there alot. always aw him grinding some one pocket action while the tuesday 9 ball tournay was going on. I would say that was 1999.

Playboy Billiards in LAke Worth FLA - Good equipment. a nice diamond for the good players. all simonis. TONY and The Crab are great guys.

Shootersville ( not that name anymore) DELRAY BEACH FLA. awsome place. huge. tables were ok gandy or olhousen. I cant remember. FULL bar, full kitchen. I know it was sold when i was moving i dont know the name. John ditoro and Claude Merrier used to run it. 2 great guys. If you ever play black jack at a casino with Claude. PLease go to the bathroom or you will pee your pants. That man is a riot.

Last Resort Saloon - Delray Beach Florida . This isnt a pool hall. Its a bar with 4 - 8 foot coin opps with simonis and 2 - 9 footers( i think they were gold crowns. The owners Bev and Larry Storey love the game and anyone that plays will be worshiped like GOD there.Larry built all custom lights like the diamond lights. They are sweet. Good food, Good booze. iT MAY BE THE BIGGEST CLOST NIT POOL FAMILY I HAVE EVER SEEN ANYWHERE IN MY POOL TRAVELS. I miss that place.
Oh yeah. Larry was building some nice cues. I dont know if he still does.

OK out of florida and up to MARYLAND

i played at the rockville CHampions AND IT WAS NICE, GOOD TOURNEYS AND LEAGUES, I wish iwas there now. the pool scene seems to be hoping since keith mcreedy moved there. And the Lady with all the inside pool info JAM is always in that area. JAm your the best. i dont know ya but hell. My wife supprts my game and i like to see your admaration fot the sport. Lots of tourneys in that area now. I also played at the laurel location. Full bar and food at both locations.

Pittsburgh Pa

Breakers in Dormont( Paul Mottey Bought the place and its nice.) Diamonds in half the room and GC's in the rest of the place. Always great tourneys there. And alot of action.

Triangle Billiards - Washington PA. This little spot has a place in my heart. Great friends of mine own the place. HAd tons of fun there. All simonis on the tables.

Columbus Ohio

The Sportsmen Club - Diamond 9 footers and smart tables throughout the place. Metwner and some guys from this place in biloxi and they were a great team. Well i moved to columbus 3 years later and only got to shoot there a few times. A few regulars were Dee Akins and some kid named COREY . I think i saw him on tv but wasnt sure. Cool PLace. Only if i had more time while i was there to play. They also have a 3 cusion table that was used for the 3 night i was there the entire night.

Sunny BAy Area California

Broken Rack - Emmeryville Ca. This place is cool. Great tuesday tourney. TAbles. Well i wont knock em. They did have simonis and played ok but hit a hard shot to the center of the pocket and you wont be happy. Alot of friendly people .

Campbell Billiards - San Jose - My first time at this place was great. troy from AZ works there and told me about it. Nice guy. Huge room. I think almost 25 tables. Gc's and robertsons. I will be going there alot in my stay here in san jose.

Ha, this is easy, I'm goin' with Red Barn Pool Hall, right here in my back yard. It hasn't even opened yet but it's the greatest, it gives Hard Times Bellflower the 8! ;)

Hey Rude Dog,
I understand your attempt to be loyal to your hometown room.I visited the place.U are misrepresenting about your place. By the way ,that tall ,big, blonde women at the cash register scared the heck out of me.Cheers

> My personal fave is High Pockets in Memphis,20 GC I's,nice and airy,40 foot ceilings. Close behind that are JOB's in Nashville,Doc's Action Billiards South in Akron (formerly Starcher's),and Brass Tap in Raleigh. I am also really fond of Romine's in Milwaukee and both Magoo's and the Palace in Tulsa. Some of these are based on the action, some the overall appearance and vibe of the room, and some for the equipment. Tommy D.

For the "best name" category, I have to nominate a small place I used to play in Marietta, GA called The Warm Spot. Small bar with a few well maintained bar tables. If the action got right, your "warm spot" could turn into a "wet spot".

Too bad a friggin' McD's sits on the site now. Ahhhhhh.

My personal favorite...

A little pool room smack dab in the middle of a small town in Mississippi called Starkville...the pool room is called Southern Billiards. Two Diamonds, old style ones with Simonis, and 6 Big G Gandys with Championship cloth. Also one very, very nice Brunswick Snooker table. Seen many a snooker game and golf game on that table. Check it out http://www.southernbilliards.com/ It's a little crowded, but some darn good players used to come through there. Used to be a road player a weekend come through there. I don't think you can find a friendlier staff or better small room atmosphere. Players of all speeds as well...I am proud to call it my home room, but I rarely get the honor of playing there anymore as I now live in Florida.

31 pool tables and 1 dart board????? ....... (1)???? Is that 1 dart board what's keeping the place open????.....maybe if I were a dart player I would understand..... 3 or 5 ....ok I see the purpose.....but 1????

They just put in the dart board to try and lure some players in. It's actually served as a pleasant distraction while waiting for a table which can be quite common. I've been told that if a dart league were to happen, they'd likely get a few more boards (which means I'm all but guaranteed to have board time when waiting for a table).

MaGoo's in Tulsa.
Magoos & the Billiard Palace in Tulsa
Puglys in Dallas

There is a place called Shooters in St. Jo, MO. that could be the greatest on the planet. It has 40 foot ceilings, a huge layout & a 25 foot deep mezzanine that circles 3/4 of the perimeter. You can watch the action over the rail, it's a great view. It needs some MONEY & TLC

For Today - It is .........

For today - It would be Hard Times in CA. I'd give $500 (of your money) & $50 of mine to be there today watching the action.

TY & GL

OHB meant Hardtimes in Sacramento because the tourney is going on.

I can settle this all right now. Hardtimes now has a beauty school located next door and there are up to 25 young ladies gracing the pool hall with their presence. Half of them are gorgeous with cute little tatoos, rings, etc... they don't even seem to mind too much when the drunk pool players start woofing at 'em.

So to recap:

1. GC III's covered by Ernesto D.
2. Buddy Hall,Parica,Manalo are playing now and theres a one pocket event every month with players like Palmer and Chohan
3. Beer and food are cheap; burger fries and coke is like 7 bucks
4. 22 year old girls in skirts, shorts and haltertops running around and they're hotties to begin with.

Hard to beat that.

hawaiian brians pool hall in honolulu, hawaii

beautiful enviroment, beautiful people, good action and hawaiian brian

Hard Times, almost as good as Allingers in Philly

Hard Times in Los Angeles is truly hard core pool, almost as good as the old time Allingers in Philly (no longer there).

Allingers had wood floors. When you wanted a fresh rack, you hit your stick on the floor a couple of times, and a little girl would run over and rack 'em for you for a dime.

They just don't make 'em like they used to...

Have you been to the California Billiard Club in Mountain View, California? If you're staying in San Jose, it's not too far north on I-280, and it's definitely worth a look....some have called it the best in the state...the owner is a pool player who designed the place with the real pool players in mind....check it out...

Actually.....a place no one mentioned that may not even be there anymore....La Mesa Billiards in San Diego......Not just the pool room but the whole town is pretty nice.

Do you mean "On Cue" in La Mesa? I've never heard of La Mesa Billiards.

No, he is right, he means "La Mesa Billiards" on La Mesa Blvd. off of Spring St. in La Mesa, CA. It has two levels, well three if you count the lobby as a level.

"On Cue" Billiards is on Jackson Dr. and Fletcher Pkwy. while technically it is in the city of La Mesa everyone I know incorrectly calls the city Grossmont; because if you cross the street you are in Grossmont and because the Grossmont Mall is up the hill.

But yea, La Mesa Billiards is a great little room with a decent amount of action. La Mesa is a nice little city too.

I noticed nobody mentioned Shooter's in Olathe, Kansas. It has been out of the tournament scene for a couple of years, but at one time, it had some of the best tournaments in the country. They have twelve or thirteen Gold Crowns, a billiard table, and twenty plus bartables as well as a full service kitchen with a raised dining area where you can sit and watch all of the action. It is my personal favorite.

Chuck Raulston

Just out of interest Rick W is hard times in sacramento the same hard times that was in the film pool hall junkies, if its not I will definately feel like an ass.

They don't make what like they used to; Pool halls or little girls?
