100k to 200k Theft at the Riviera APA

Tiger Products' brand new trailer was stolen between 11pm Saturday the 27th 10am Sunday the 28th from the Riviera parking lot directly behind the Riviera Convention Center (where the APA Team Nationals was held this last week).

As Tiger had already broken their booth down and placed all remaining unsold product in the trailer, it was a HUGE loss.

Items that were stolen include massive quantities of Tiger's entire laminated tip line (Sniper, Everest, Tiger, Dynamite and Tiger Jump/Break laminated cue tips). Also stolen were 2 lathes, Stack leather rolls, One-piece leather wraps, billiards apparel, tools, displays, banners and the booths' cabinetry.

All combined, the theft is valued well over 100 thousand dollars and when final tallies are made, it may total 200 thousand dollars plus.

Tiger has been good the billiards industry and the theft makes no sense.

P.S. Please keep your eyes open for anyone looking to unload or sell massive quantities of Tiger Brand products. FYI: the trailer was brand new, white, double axle, 12 feet long, 8 feet tall and 7 feet wide.
 
Theft

That is so pathetic! This is getting to be common theme at these large events... I'd even guess it's the same person/people.

Tony is a really good guy and all my experiences with Tiger have been very positive and their work is top notch. They especially do the best the can to return a person's cue as fast as possible knowing we 'need' our cues. Wish them the fastest recovery of their property.
 
This is horrible news. I was sickened to read about Joe Blackburn getting his trailer stolen last year, and now this with the Tiger folks.

WHY does not the Riviera have outdoor cameras on site?

Having just recenty returned from a casino up north, I noticed an immense amount of security, looking very much like Secret Service men with ear plugs in their ear and hand-held radios. There were a kazillion ceiling cameras throughout the casino recording EVERYONE's move.

Wouldn't the parking lot on the premises of the Riviera have such security? It is the nature of the casino environment to have cameras in place, so as not to miss a thief. I would think this would apply to the parking lot as well.

Next Vegas pool event, I'd set up a dummy trailer with a pool brand name written all over it in the parking lot and watch it 24/7. When the thieves make their move, they'll be busted. Isn't there something one can put on a vehicle to have it tracked if it is stolen? New GM models now are equipped with this device, called "On-Star" or something like that.

These thieves are obviously knowledgeable about pool, and I'd set 'em up big time with a trap.

We feel for you and Tony. I know how much effort you put into your job and the pride you take in your work. To be the victims of this sort of crime is just unacceptable.

If we all work hard to get the word out here, we should be able to make it very difficult for these thieves to sell the products. Sooner or later, I am confident they will make a mistake.

Tiger does the best work and makes the best products. Let's support these great people to help them make a comeback after this devastating loss.

It could be someone in the the Riv's security is in on it....wasn't that the case with your computer, an employee of the hotel?

Vega is going to hell...sigh....first the influx of children :mad: and now chronic, professional pool tournament theives.

What's next?..prostitutes?...gambling?...drugs? (leaving, not arriving :D )

I would think it's someone from the area or even the hotel, since Joe Blackburn's trailer was also stolen earlier this year.
 
What I know is

Las Vegas has a Dirty Little Secret, and so does Henderson & North Las Vegas. Cities growing by leaps and bound, too many people, too many Criminal Types, and just not enough COPS.

Sorry to say as I have personally seen the Dark Side of Las Vegas, within a few block of the Strip, or Downtown Casino/Hotel that are are Slums, BREED Criminals.

Crime Area Similar to Most Big Cities, the Criminal element know Tourists, Travelers, Truckers, are easy marks, as most are there passing through, or on vacation, or convention.

Even if the Cops catch a Thief in many casse, they need the victim to come back to testify, and many victims just don’t have the time, or money for a return trip to Sin City.

Most Hotels have Security both inside, and out. Many ARMED Security Personal on Bicycles Patrolling onside the property. But Security can only be in one place at a time.

Think it all come down to no one is as concerned about YOUR STUFF, or YOUR COMPANIES STUFF, as YOU. :mad:

I would have my commercial vehicle equipped an alarm system and Lojack or some similar tracking device.

I am not going to argue the point you've made nor will I,
but Scott I consider that statement to be unfair and ethnically and racially inflammatory.

Now was that really necessary??? You are from Kansas, I'm sure its difficult to understand their importance if your not on the West Coast. But I must admit, there are a lot of hispanics up to no good. But, then again, there are a lot of white people, asian, blacks, and every other minority with their share of deliquency. I am educated and a good person, to stereotype ANYBODY based on assumptions and inaccurate facts, is wrong. Well, not trying to start a flame thread, so I guess I'll stop here before I start bringing statistics and make your statement less credible. (lol, did a huge term paper on it) :D

Unless you're a Native American, the country's entire population is comprised of descendants from immigrants.

Btw, some of the most honest, hard-working people living here are foreigners.

I agree. Think that this guy needs to get his head screwed on straight and start treating individuals like individuals. Probably ought to think about just staying in Kansas, not sure that he could deal with someplace like LA or San Antonio.

Scott, it seems like everybody missed the word " illegal " in your post. Everybody wants to jump on the politically correct bandwagon here. The crime rate isn't anything compared to the medical cost, welfare cost, schools for their children, etc. I am all for legal immigration. If you are illegal, get the hell out of here and take your kids, and your mother, father, grandfather, cousins , and the rest of your illegal family with you.

The Native Americans immigrated here too. They were just here first by about 20,000 years.

Seriously though, it was probly some big time professional thieves, the kind that steal whole semis full of stuff and steal from loading docks, construction sites and that sort of thing.

I know a guy that does that. (not a friend)
