1980 Joss West

on back side of coin & JW logo, is ISL 1980, or 15L 1980? anyone have any idea of what that means? I PM'ed Bill Stroud, but haven't heard back from him as yet.

The ISL stands for the International Snooker League that I played in and Vernon was at the tournament in 1980.

One of a kind, wow. But not nearly as impressive as the none of a kind cue you made for your DYD contest.:slap:

I witnessed this all unfold but I don't believe I ever commented. I would like to take the opportunity here since the door was opened.

One can't deny that happened. Well, it didn't just happen, he did it. It was the commission of an act, not just happenstance.

But the man does not make any cues anymore. So nobody is going to hurt his business by bashing him.

He has a wealth of knowledge and can contribute a lot of historical information, and not just on his own cues.

I am not saying to give him a pass on the matter. But I am saying that we are fortunate he is still around in such matters as the one at hand in this thread.

Personally, I value his presence and contributions here, in this thread, in this sort of matter. He was a prominent cue maker that earned his place in cue making history. It didn't end well.

Again, I would not suggest anybody give him a pass on the matter.

An apology to the community at large was never offered as far as I know. Yet I prefer to take the high road and just say "Thank You" for contributing in this matter.

By all means, never let him forget it. At the same time a certain amount of decorum and civility will keep him where he belongs in the matter, somewhere below the rest for his lack of grace in handling the matter.

No need to lower one's self because of his misdeed.

Well stated. Too bad the debacle ocurred but better to move on. I have nothing but respect for Bill's contributions to cues. He made my first ordered custom cue in 1977. I later became a supplier of cue materials and participant with several ICCS events. I have appreciated knowing Bill better than I would have otherwise. I feel a debt of gratitudle for some important business advice he shared with me freely several years ago. I wanted to be a dealer of his cues but that just didn't materialize.
