That is all I know without looking.

I am still trying to find Jimmy King!

Thanks for sharing Bill!;)

I goofed. It was Gene Cooper and not Jimmy. I always got these two mixed up. :D

Click on the link in the OP Jay and watch the video. That guy is identified as Jim Brock and the other one you say is Jarvis is identified as Scotty T.

Duh, you're right on both counts. I confused Jim with Myron, both grey haired, about the same size and age. And that could be Scotty and not Mark on closer inspection. My eyes deceived me again. Plus the guy at the end of the second row who I thought was George Brunt may be Chuck Absher. Oh well, we all have bad days.

Thanks for turning me on to the video. That was cool. I batted about .800 here. At least I picked off Chuck Absher before I dogged him too. I should have spotted Rosey and Danny Cook, but didn't. Scotty just fooled me, it looked so much like Jarvis.

I really liked the video guys. :)

That brings back memories Jay and I will tell you why. I was around 20 years old and at my first "big" tourney and it was in Montgomery Ala at a place called the Gambler.
Now anybody from the South that has been through ALA has played at the Gambler...anyway, Jimmy King and Gene the Machine Coope was in the finals and Gene had a tough shot down the rail past the side pocket and he hung it in the jaws.
I remember it like it was yesterday Jimmy King said,"you are going to have to play better than that"
Jimmy and Gene used to battle it out ALOT back in the 80's.

Thanks for the "flashback" Jay!

I said Sid Mann, but I think I was wrong about the older guy who is third from the left in row two. It's actually Myron Zownir. He played in quite a few tournaments back then.

He once claimed that he made 6 nine balls on the break in a row on his home table. No one witnessed it and there was no video proof, but that made no difference to him. He just kept boasting about it for a year or two. After a while, it was like who cares.

Definitely Jim Brock who used to book all the matches on the Baxter tour.

Jim Brock, Jimmy King, Danny Cook, Floyd Baxter.

Where are they all now? Would love to know what became of all these people who were such a part of my growing up in the pool room.

Not to highjack the thread but....

I was at a bar table tourney in about 1982, at the hiphugger, in Kokomo,In. It was loser breaks, race to 7. Guy wins the flip, runs out. second guy made the 9 each time he broke, totalling 6 times in a row and lost the set. The first guy broke and ran every game. Only time I ever seen that many 9's made in a row.
Now, back on topic. I remember when Bill was trying to find out who the last 3 players were in this photo. I knew quite a few, but not the ones he needed. This is one Great photo. Thanks for sharing Bill.

OMG. What a classic photo. Louie, Lemke, Billy Johnson (Wade Crane), Earl, TK from FLA, Jimmy King, Mark Jarvis, Danny Jones, David Howard, Jeff Carter, Buddy, Sid Mann, Redbird, Mark Showalter, Gene Catron, even a baby faced Johnny Archer (try to find him). George Brunt, our very own Ironman (am I right or am I wrong?). And that's Steve's lovely wife Peggy in the middle. I had such a crush on her. I'll find some more players, give me time. Who else can name some guys?

Sonny Springer, Jimmy Hodges. I think that's Medina next to Buddy, but I'm not sure.

No, Jay, I'm not in this one. But as I look at this photo and count the ones I've played at one time or another, it sure makes me feel old.

Steve was quite a guy and as Bill says, to know him was to love him. That man really got around too. The book he kept on good road spots was famous in itself. If you needed a good spot Steve would know where it was. He was funny too.

I think they still have a Gumphrey tournament every year in Poplar Bluffs don't they?

I was informed that Steve didn't die until 1985, you know how years run together sometimes, maybe 1987 was the Inaugural Tournament, I'm still looking for my photo.

Did anyone ever receive a copy of the final photo with $Bill's ID's? He's gone now, so I can't ask him. :(
