Kim & I both did some sight seeing and picture taking today, we also practiced a little bit at Buffalos Silver Cue. Then we headed over to the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino and try our luck on the slots, Kim broke even after putting $100 in and getting $100 back out after an hour, in the same hour I put $220 into the machines, won $388, then played off $104 and cashed out at $284, $64 winner, then ended up blowing $86 on the megamillions slots right before we went to dinner lol.

We are both having fun in Reno so far.

That puts you 22 bucks loser. When you're on the road, that would buy a few burgers. May as well have just torn that up and thrown it to the ground for all the good it did you. Could have given it to a homeless person and they could have bought a couple of bottles of Night Train or Red Devil.

Not long ago, I remember you posted that you only gambled at Pool now. See, this was when you were trying to convince someone/everyone, that you are now a reformed Gambler.

Old habits are hard to break, aren't they Rhea.

Bank Rolls don't last long around machines.

These days, I believe close to zero of what I hear or read and 50% of what I see.

I know pool players that just go flying off at the hip at everyone that comes along with no bankroll management.

Those darn Casinos are dead losers. The promise of a reward is met with many broke more broke people.

If you're going to be there for awhile you need to pretend like these Casino games are poison.

No exceptions.

Have I ever steered you wrong yet?

Your a big girl but if you don't make this a rule for yourself your in trouble in Nevada for sure.

Good luck..........

That is good advice Geno and hope that she will listen to her Mentor.

She is going to be doing a bit of twitching around those machines. Hard to focus on the Tourney if you're aching for a fix.

All it takes is one cigarette for a non smoker and one 20 dollar bill for a Gambler.

Your baby sitting days are over Gene. Be happy for that.

she ended up about 25 dollars loser after hours of fun. I would hardly call that hard core gambling. Going to a dinner for two you would spend that.

Really? You have no idea of what you're talking about.

Big difference between a person that might go to the Casino a few times a year and drop a bit of fun money.

You're talking about an ex hard core gambler. For a hard core gambler, there are no hours of fun.

For a person on the road with a limited bank roll, dumping $220 in a machine can have consequences.
I suggest that you go the the start of these 2 threads and read from the beginning to the end.

22 bucks. Aren't you the big spender now. Where do you take your date, 7-11

I doubt that you can get 2 Slurpees and 2 Hoagies for that these days.

agreed

$220 down to nothing....not real smart when 3 weeks ago there was zero dollars in their pocket and someone was worried about a room and where their next meal is coming from

Sure makes one think about the "money management" side of this story...

Heaven forbid Rhea comes down with an illness...she'll have to go on the Obama Platinum plan....heck maybe you can get a Hoagie off the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps)..

I know every day that my taxes are taken from my payroll...I think "heck I could be out shooting a game or two"....

Anyway ..I am done venting

Well most hardcore gamblers don't play the slot machines. They play the tables. Also, what do you think she is on the road doing? Playing tiddlie winks. She is on the road gambling on pool. Gambling is gambling whether its on pool or at the casino. She wont play more than a race to 6 for 50 dollars and that's if she has the best of it. Only time she plays for more than that is if she is being staked. Its only gambling if its your money you are losing. Not a stake horses money.

Ok, the type of gamblers that will spend every penny of their pay cheques on machines then.

Whatever the name is for those ones. Many local stories since the Gov forced a casino down our throats, people have absolutely destroyed
their lives over Machines.

Stole from their spouse, divorce, stole from their employer, loss of job and jail time. Lost their homes, cars. You know, that type of less serious gambling.

Gambling is gambling whether its on pool or at the casino.

That would be how most people feel about it. A while ago, Rhea posted that she no longer gambled on anything but pool.

Maybe it was her way of trying to convince herself or us that she was no longer a hard core gambler.

That is so true BHr! When Montana legalized gambling, I watched people I KNEW had a wife and kids at home waiting for the husband's check to go food shopping, lose every dime in a poker or keno machine. Very sad... Gambling, like drugs, alcohol, overeating, kleptomania or many other OCD behaviors, is an addiction.

y'all forget the PayPal acct that was setup for AZBers to donate?

.

The idea of enabling a degenerate gambler by donating to a paypal account doesn't interest me at all but donating some spare change when I feel like it to read an ongoing LIVE pool story (FROM THE ROAD) is something that is far more attractive.

Since it would be a gift, PayPal wouldn't take any of the cash and they could spend it on whatever they choose. They could even buy pool supplies from AZBers via paypal; things like chalk, gloves, Q-whiz, cue cleaner or if the account gets fat, they could possibly use it for more life-sustaining things.

I would suggest that Rhea keep the donations totally confidential and not mention who was giving what. I know that some of the screen names won't match the paypal names anyway. I think some people might be embarrassed to being exposed as a philanthropist. I don't guess it would matter if she occasionally made mention that she received XX amount of dollars on such and such day but not by whom.

The next question isn't for those who think it is a bad idea to consider donating money to their cause and more so to do with how you think AZBers would want their donations mentioned or not mentioned.

What are your thoughts?

It was just after Rhea had left for the South on her own and was real short on money. The stories were not coming because she couldn't take her big computer and had no laptop.

My suggestion that maybe some players on AZ donate to help her get a $150 or $200 Kindle or something brought on a few rants.

I only suggested this to bring on the stories again. That was all. Not to finance her living or travels. Rhea never asked for anything.

As it turned out the girl that had no chance to get anywhere,so it was thought, won a big tourney just recently and is doing just fine.

Looks like she was teachable and learned some good stuff in the months we were on the road together.

Glad to see she's doing just fine and having the time of her life on the road.

Thanks for the comments Joey. I started this with an innocent suggestion.

The road is not for the meek or the weak.

Gene,
YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS LONG AGO.

I also suggest that you have a PayPal link in all of your posts so that those who are interested in donating to your journey might do so with ease.

Those who don't want to donate simply don't click on the link.

You've provided a lot of fine road stories in this forum. You have also provided MANY phone lessons on Perfect Aim for free and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the recipients of your knowledge wouldn't mind donating $5 or $10 from time to time to thank you for your time on the phone or to appreciate your great stories from the road.

When I think about how some people tried to run you off of this forum and you stayed despite being mistreated, I realize how lucky this forum was that you stayed one. You've added another dimension to AZ Billiards that we have NEVER HAD.

Thanks for what you continue to do Gene.

But you, and others, are missing the whole point of legalized gambling: tax revenue. We get to pay lower taxes because of the money coming in from the lottery, casinos, liquor, cigarettes, etc.

Just remember: the lottery (and casino gambling) is a tax on people who don't understand simple math.

Yesterday someone told me that "Casino gambling is actually legalized theft. There is no way that you can beat the casino unless you cheat them and eventually you will be caught."
