Actually, Willie... I DID donate by Paypal last year, remember? I donated either $200 or $300 for mini tournaments. I sponsored the one-handed mini tournament. I think I payed Jay, and Jay made sure the money got to DCC.

Steve, if I absolutely MUST pay by check, I'll have to figure out my electronic check option in my bank.

But I won't like it..

Russ

RC,
Sorry Russ, but the activities you describe were NOT PART OF THE OFFICIAL ROOM activities; and were NOT HANDLED by any of the room organizers. Your arrangement with Jay was strictly between the 2 of you (he was NOT one of the room organizers).

Of course, that raises the question of when Jay will step up and volunteer to be one of the room organizers in coming years.:) :)

If we could do the above event there, I would run it. I would confine it to one table during an "off hour" time.

JH,
Sounds good to me; such an event would be fun. As before, the organizers are not accepting Paypal; but if you want to do it, then fire away.

Jay..

I'll put $150.00 up by Paypal if this One Pocket thing gets arranged. Also, you might be happy to know I put in for leave, and made reservations for the Executive West, the 9th through the 12th. If everything works out with my contract recompete, I'll see you there. I will only have minimal time to practice, and that sucks, but at least I might not embarass myself in the mini tourneys. I'll be bringing wifey for the 4 days.. I figured I should go this year while I can, in case I cannot go next year.

I'd like to do this One Pocket thing at the AZ Room if we can this year. Where each player has five tries to see how many balls they can run in one pocket. I'd like to make it a $1,000 Added event to attract top players. Should be entertaining for the AZers as well.

I'm still not sure how doable this is. Willie, Steve let me know please.

I was telling Williebetless this is what I wanted to do there cause I dont think I'll play in anything this year.

Looks like you and I can run this Jay.

Sounds good and should be quite interesting. I was thinking of inviting the pros to take two tries at it for $50. Of course this money goes into the prize fund as well. If Russ adds $150, so will I. If anyone wants to donate anything to the added money for this one, let me know. We will publicize all the people who support it. We can play it on one table for a specified time each day, so as not to conflict with other events going on at DCC.

I think it might lend some excitement to the AZ room.

I'm leaving for Casino Windsor right now for the night (birthday tomorrow), for cards and rest.

I know Greg will like this and probably do the finals on the TV table. I thought maybe $20 a crack and 3 for $50 with 6 tries max (Leil gay went nuts with the 14.1 the year before, did it like 40 times).

Top 5 people in the finals, maybe give 2 tries in the finals for the total amount to determine winner.

I just bought my plane ticket today. I will mail my check on friday. I can only stay untill 5am monday morning the 7th. I look forward to meeting everyone in person and trying to shoot a few games before I have to shoot back home. Any info on the venue? Do most people eat there the whole time or do you go out? Are the tables open or do I need quarters? ect... ect.. Chris.

Are you playing in one of the main events? If so, when you can find a table, it's free. After about 11 pm or so at night, when they finish the evening rounds, tables are set for pay. If you donate to the room, we have 2 tables set on free play.
If you're only going for the weekend, You may want to get someone to drive you to the grocery and buy a styro cooler and some food. Eating sandwiches and chips and having soda's in your room, is much more cost effective. The food at the hotel the last couple of years wasn't the best, and was pricey in my opinion.
It'll be fun regardless.

satman,
Three years ago at DCC I had a gambling match arranged for a weekday night (I think Wednesday, but it might have been Thursday) with OldHasBeen. It was about midnight or 1 A.M. We looked in the tournament room....no tables free....we looked in the action rooms....no tables free. Thus was born the idea for the AZB room. And that's the rest of the story.

I am just coming to check out the show. I was going to do a week or so but I have just had surgery and have one more to go on dec 18th so I cant take any more time off from work. I figure a weekend trip is better than not going at all. See everyone there. Chris.

Glad to see that you are going to make it to Derby. I too will be there the 9th thru the 12th and look forward to meeting you. Maybe we can play some cheap 100 dollar sets.

I'll be looking for you,
Daniel

Mike: Where do you play and what does your Young look like. I play with a Young, too and have a couple.

Dennis,
The Ed Young is ebony with curly maple points. Rectangular curly maple inlays below the wrap. I absolutely love it. Lots of compliments on the look and the hit. I play occasionally at Red Shoes, Chris's on Lawrence, Cue Time (Lyons), and anywhere else I can get a game. Recently I've tried Palace Billiards (Villa Park). Great place with new management and a nice bar.
