2010 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

congrats :)
straight-pool is just a matter of training- just play often, read and watch- and your game will increase soon^^

Bump me up to 48. Things were going smoothly until I realized I was coming up on 50 and then the stupidity kicked in and I got out of line on a simple shot.

@Andy

You really have good shooter abilities- but imo you have to work on your *patterns* for the breakshot. Imo you should try to keep the cueball movement a bit more simple. And reduce your speed a bit- you re hittin the balls often so hard ...not really necessary for this little plactic-clumps :grin-square:
And what is very important- get your informations ALWAYS before going down to your stance/stroke. You went down to shoot-and then you are turning around with your head lookin out what to do etc- this is a bad habit (and hard to get out of it :p and i m sure you know that our brain is just workin with pictures/visualization- so if you give your brain new informations AFTER you actually did it already.....your pre-shot routine is for nothing)- Andy- and if you would try to work on this- you ll much more constantly. You gettin yourself out of rythm with habits like this. From that what i see you re really pocketing very well- just a bit slower-and get your informations always before going down- When you er going down to your stroke- you must be sure and you already have decided what to do- then you JUST want to make your planned shot-nothin else!

Anyway nice shooting Andy,

Thanks I appriciate the input. I have been working on my patterns but still have a ways to go.

As to the speed I hit shots; I'm used to playing in pool halls where you can't roll a ball to the pocket without knowing which way it will roll off. So I have gotten into a habit of playing shots,shall I say, quite firmly.
Now that I have a table at home I'm learning to roll the ball softly more often.

Again thanks for your comments.

Congrats Dennis for breaking out of the 30s

Thanks, Steve.

I was throwing up a lot of 40s last summer and then I hit my high run of 57.

A while later a guy told me my grip was all wrong and I should change it. So I did and have been working on the grip and trying to smooth out the stroke since the fall. My game went a bit south for awhile but seems to be heading in the right direction again. Now if I could just start raining 40s with an occasional 50...:D

@Steve
I m sure the next "100" will come soon :)

@Dmgwalsh
GoGo- if some has the willing to change something on his technical fundamentals it is often a hard way and could drive him crazy- hat s off for this *try*! And you see...it going further again. I m very sure you ll do 40 and 50 s constantly. Very nice shooting.

50 seems too much

I'll jump in with a 49 on Saturday, Mar 13.
Actually it was the second in less than 10 days. So it seems I can play a bit again, but I can't get past 50. The first 49 ended with a bad miss on a fairly easy shot. I can't remember how saturdays 49 ended.

Good job running 49 balls and doing it twice is twice as nice. It is not a easy thing to do. You now know that you can get into the 40's. Just keep doing what you have been doing and that next level will come.
Keep us posted.
