2013 Joss "Handmade" Cue - Not Exactly What They "Used To Make"

Josh,

I called Dan Janes this morning and spoke with him about your cue and your dissatisfaction. He was very congenial and friendly, and spoke with no ill will toward you.

His number one priority is your satisfaction. I mentioned that you were very pleased with the playability of the cue, but were very dissatisfied with some of the workmanship in the cue.

Dan asked if you would consider sending the cue back to him, along with a detailed listing of your points of dissatisfaction, and he will make you another, brand new cue to address your concerns.

Dan has been making cues for almost fifty years at JOSS Cues, and takes a lot of pride in the body of work he has produced in this period, with a ton of satisfied customers. I know you have liked JOSS cues for a long time, and this is what prompted you to order the cue in the first place.

I hope you will send the cue back to JOSS with a detailed list of your points of concern, allow them to make you another cue......And become a satisfied customer again.

I wish you well.

Will -

That showed some real class.

BRAVO .....to Will for interceding.........my original hunch about Dan seems to have more in line with what Will just posted. You don't spend decades in the cue-making business building a great reputation and suddenly wake up one morning and change to "I don't give a shit." attitude. As long as Dan makes it right with Josh, then everything is okay and the cue being returned is a mutual experience/lesson for both Dan & Josh to respectively contemplate about........hope everything turns out okay for Josh and it sounds like it should.

Props to Will Prout

Thanks Will, you're a class act, I appreciate your willingness to mediate, and I will not forget about it. I am going to send the cue back to Joss on Monday. I will keep this thread updated. I am feeling rather confident that everything is going to be resolved. Thanks to everyone who has commented! Happy holidays :)

Will, I don't know you, but you deserve some huge credit for stepping up like that. Big props to you buddy. These are the kinds of things I love to see on AZB. Too often we see problems being started, rather than resolved here. Cheers, Brett :)

And this is why AZB is great

Will Prout you are a class act and it is great to see you help out here. Hopefully the new cue will be made where anyone here would be glad to have it in their hands and collection.

Hopes everything will be fine with your next cue. I really like my Joss, and the Joss reputation.

Crying shame THE OP had to go to a forum and resort to an intervention from someone that knew Joss.

In the making

Got an email from Debbie this morning. They are working
on it. It takes at least four months to make the cue, so if
all goes as expected it should be finished sometime in April.
I will update this thread when I receive the cue.
Thank you all :)

Will, I have to commend you for doing this for the OP. You went out of your way to help a fellow AZ'r and look out for your friend Dan Janes. I hope everything works out for the OP and Dan does build him a new cue because i'd have been pretty upset if that cue came to me for $1800. I was shocked when I saw the pictures.

For those who may not know Will Prout, he is a prominent cue collector and runs the International Cue Collector Show (ICCS), the most prestigious and influential show of it's type, bringing the world's leading collectors and cue maker's together each year.

I have to commend Will for his generous effort and Dan for reconsidering his stance and correcting the situation.
