2014 us open unpaid prize money

He's not the only one. I'm also beginning to lose faith in Barry. Right now I'm no longer optimistic about the 2015 U.S. Open. I'm not going to go into the details but Barry has made promises to other players regarding payment that he has not followed through on.

I know he'll be pissed when he reads this, but so be it. I'm not too happy either to have people contacting me about getting paid. And this is nearly three months post tourney! I've tried intervening but I'm also getting the run-around. :frown:

Greetings Everyone,

My Good friend “Quan Do”, who is the 2014 National Champion of Vietnam went to the 2014 US Open in October. He placed in the top 16 player rankings. Which means he was supposed to be paid $3,000. He was given a check at that time, that did not go through. It bounced.

We have tried unsuccessfully to contact Barry and The US Open officials. But to no avail.

We realize that Barry may be focus on planning his 40th Anniversary Open. That is maybe why Barry has not replied back to us, hence the reason for this public email.

If there is anyone who can contact Barry or the officials of the US Open, please let them know of this situation.

Regards
Nam

P.s my email is leminhnam at gmail dot com

So if Quan Do gets paid, is he going to come back in 2015?

I also found this article - to show what $3,000 might mean to a player like Quan Do

Home> Vietnam A to Z> A> Average Salary Average Salary Wage and salary in Vietnam are very dissimilar across occupations and contrast starkly between urban and rural areas. The average wage per person in Vietnam is around 3.2 million VND ($150) a month and differentiated by many factors.

Like many other economies in the world, the type of jobs firstly divides the salary level in Vietnam. The top professions that pay the highest salary are Mineral and Metallurgy (9.2million VND/month), Banking (7.6million VND/month) and Pharmacy (7million VND/month) while some other jobs like Textile or Food Industry workers only pay their labors with the wage from 2.1 to 2.3 million VND a month.

There is also a significant gap in salary between different positions in work; for example, the salary for the secretaries is often between 2 million to 2.5 million VND, while the wage for a CEO varies between 17 million and 20 million VND.

Additionally, the wage is distinguished between private and state-owned companies. Most state officers and employees has very low pay jobs, usually equal to 1/3 or 1/5, or even 1/10 the wage of the private officers in the same post, especially in some core professions such as education and medical care. The salary of the state officers in other industries like banking, petroleum or energy could be higher, but still not matched with the private sector employees.

There is also a growing preference towards working administrative tasks in foreign-owned company, which offer competitive rate of payment. However, due to the limited English skills and education quality, not many are able to successfully apply for the job.

Barry Behrman is a thief. It's his nature. Always has been, always will be.

You know it, I know it, and so does everybody else. His complete lack of honesty, integrity, and consideration for anyone else will never change. What must change however is for people to stop pandering to him, supporting him, defending him, or doing business with him even when they know exactly what he is.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I haven't been on here as much lately, things have been busy since the very draining hectic Open. I received a couple messages about this from another player & passed them along to Barry. Things unfortunately get misplaced by both of us & we apologize this fell through the cracks as this certainly wasn't the intention. It's going to be remedied within a very short periods of time.

Nothing was "misplaced" and neither of you have forgotten, as if either of those would have been a reasonable excuse anyway. The reason this happens is because Barry is going to pay people when he feels like it, if he feels like it, whenever it is good and convenient for HIM. Obligations mean nothing to him. It is the same story every year, because that is the [lack of} character of Barry. A tiger doesn't change his stripes, nor does a liar and a thief.

What I a short period of time?? Like today??? that's what should happen. Not tomorrow TODAY! Short period of time my ass. ZERO commitment there

sounds like someone else is seeing pool for what it is.

A very astute observation by you, sir
Another reason pool stays bogged down in obscurity.
This blowhard pool tournament promoter, Bereman, and his air barrel paying off is an ideal example

Only the players by not entering or the courts for crimes can get rid of him. It really is just that simple. Johnnyt

This situation is an on going theme with this tournament. It seems every year when the US Open 9 ball thread pops up, we should almost per-maturley start up a "I haven't been paid for the US Open" thread.
