Never said Jay stiffed anyone. That lies on Barry. But choosing to support someone who repeatedly lies and stiffs people year after year lies on Jay. He said himself he took Barry's word in the face of common sense and evidence.
Jay said he wanted to do best for the players. Considering Barry's known history, best for the players would have been all promised prize money in escrow. Jay didn't insist on that. He isn't alone, neither did the other employees, officials, WPA, players, or most of the fans.
Jay has specifically stated that he didn't want to be associated if Barry was going to stiff anyone, and that he wanted what was best for the players. With those being the goals, he clearly and unequivocally made the wrong decisions for his goals, and has said as much and seems to regret his choices. Anyone that can't see that taking the word of someone who has never told the truth is a bad idea is just blind. Anybody that can't see that if you want what is best for the players in regards to this tournament then you absolutely must insist on escrow is just blind.
I'm going to say it again, for the twentieth time. I'm not saying Jay is to blame for the stiffing. I'm not saying Jay is a bad person. I am not trying to rake him over the coals. He made a mistake, one he admits to and seems to regret, and I am simply trying to get people to wake up and stop supporting Barry until he decides to start escrowing ALL of the promised prize money in advance due to his proven untrustworthy track record. I won't be responding to anymore mentions of Jay because that is not what this is really about, nor where the focus should be. If you or anybody else don't think he made some poor decisions in the case considering his own goals then we will just have to agree to disagree and let it be.
Now, how do we prevent Barry from ever being able to do this again? I say fans, players and employees alike should insist on escrow from here on out or boycott watching, playing, or working it. What is your suggestion?
