The book is dreaming to have USA the number one. I'd probably put Vietnam above them. I wonder if they really get bets or this is all a flyer marketing bs with nothing behind it.

USA is one of the favorites, imo. vietnam is hard to gauge with anh doing his debut in this event. interesting player though, he can break like stalev if he wants to

I hate to be SEED-istic but I am guessing more big SEEDS will fall today.
At least one or two of Netherlands, Taiwan, Poland, Germany will crash out in first round.
After dream run of underdogs GB C (Appleton / Boyes) and Singapore (Yapp/Toh) to final in 2021 and 2022, we may see another small name or underdog team tripeat with a deep run this year.
:ROFLMAO:

I figure that with Skyler in top form, Team USA looks best on paper. My pick remains Team Germany, but my picks are usually wrong. Last year, however, I did pick Team Spain, so you never know. There used to be a lot of dead money at the WCOP, but not that much anymore. The world is catching up!

I'm giving credit where credit is due. Phil Yates is at his best in Finland vs Taipei. When he steers clear of analyzing the play and offering obscure similes and metaphors, he can be a very fine commentator.

I'd put Taipei as top 3 seeds, maybe event top seed. I don't know Filler's partner, so that's what's keeping me from putting them above Taipei at the moment.

Edit: plus the Ko brothers have more experience with each other’s game than any other pairing, by far.

Yeah, you're right. The Ko brothers are a very elite team, perhaps as good as anybody. Filler's partner Neuhausen is a 19-year-old who is starting to show some strong form, but whether he can handle a moment this big is yet to be determined.

Very shaky Dutch performance... But we won. By the way. The commentators asked: which 4 players played in the first edition in 2006 and in this year's edition?

Mika Immonen
David Alcaide
Niels Feijen
?

Who was the last?

Possibly Alex Pagulayan.

So as you've seen from these responses, the answer is: Serena maybe, (in what sport is the greatest of all time NOT hotly debated? Maybe ice hockey), Venus definitely not. She had the misfortune of still being in her prime when her sister entered hers.

Interestingly however, Serena retired last year at age 40, while Venus is still out there at 43. She's obviously not the player she used to be and is now ranked #554 in the world. But she will still get "wild cards" (tournament/sponsor invitations) probably from almost any tournament she likes, and she did indeed take a wild-card slot at the WTA tour event in Birmingham, UK last week and didn't embarrass herself - she beat the world #67 in the first round and took the world #17 to 3 sets (hill-hill in a race to two, in poolese) in the second round.
Happy Gilmore is the only hockey player to ever take off his skate and try to stab somebody. GOAT.

They said he was still Phillipino back then, and that year Efren and Bustamente won.
Shows you how strong the Filipino contingent was, when they could win the 2006 WCOP event with the 2004 World Nine Ball champion sitting on the bench.

Some of the B players on the weaker teams are looking very shaky today.

Finland was very weak this time but Mika and Petri been lil out of from lately. Too bad they were top 2 ranked(finland) before WCOP and Uski got 2nd after Spanish Open and not earlier..

For those inquiring minds who want to get more familiar with Joshua's partner at the current WCOP, Moritz Neuhausen is a European champion and a world champion (both at junior level). He won U17 world title at 2019 and U19 at 2021.
