2023 World Pool Championship, Kielce, Poland

In one of the commentaries, Alex Lely said that he asked Filler why he went back to CF and Filler said "no comment." Hope Predator did not force him to use CF as I have seen some speculate here.
Filler said he had been using the Revo during practice and was feeling really comfortable with it.

Apparently Joshua Filler has been pushed against the wall by Predator about their carbon tech. Must have forced him make a switch from a beloved and trusted wooden shaft.
Prior to his SE match vs Alex he was interviewed by Boyes who asked some questions about that switch, and unlike his reply to Lely quoted above (no comments) Josh has nothing to do but make a good grief and say "I'm comfortable and won't go back". Well, if so he will have to spend many many hours trying to get accustomed to this new toy, namely Revo.

I wish I could've seen Big Ko's match vs. Jan Van Lierop. I think Ko was 7-10 down, 8-10 down at some point? Takes it 11-10.

If it’s true Predator is forcing their sponsored players to use the Revo that is a raw deal. And this from a 25 year Predator player and fan. I’d like one of the interview channels to ask Karim point blank. It’s so raw to me I’d almost consider changing to another company.

It doesn’t even make sense from a business standpoint. I can’t imagine the profit on a Revo is higher than a 314/Z. The Revo is made in Boston, which has some of the highest labor rates in the USA, and the world.

This happens all the time across the world of sports. If you want full control over your equipment then don't agree to be sponsored by an equipment manufacturer.
yep. I remember Nike signing Tiger to play with their equipment. They painted his Titlist to look like the Nike driver until they made something he didn't hate. That's how I remember it going down anyway. Been a while.

If you are a global superstar like Tiger then you get to do stuff like this, and even that was a temporary solution while they developed a new product that would satisfy him. Shane is in a position to make similar demands of Cuetec. But everyone else is at the mercy of the sponsor if they are taking the sponsor's cash.

who are your favorites from here?

i go with shane, FSR, lechner, albin. it did seem mario turned around a big deficit against kaci to win that match. maybe he's due (no pun intended)

Could somebody please answer this question? Many of us virtual railbirds have had a long discussion about the background music at this event in Targi Poland. It's very calming and subdued, quite different than other pool happenings. In fact, I really, really like it. Does anybody know if this is Matchroom's doing or if this music is supplied courtesy of the venue site, Targi Kielce? I hope Matchroom uses this music at all future events.
I believe it has to do with streaming matches on youtube and facebook. Although they do not appear to be streaming on facebook for this event, thank god. Any copyrighted music in the background will get the stream terminated and/or demonetized. So they are probably playing public domain background music. Has a bit of a jazzy sound to it, I like it.

If he sticks with it I believe he will be better off in the long run. It takes time to re-tune the muscle memory and given his depth of muscle memory it might take him a bit longer than a newbie switching. You could see he was doubting himself on some of the shots he missed today, which is very unlike Filler since he is so confident in his shots. It's great if it was his decision to switch whereas it sucks if it was forced by Predator. I hope Predator was not involved because I only use their products.
