36.12 mph

BS he's not active he's just another salesman

Nah, I don't agree with that.

Mikes's posting history here is actually pretty solid. He has taken part in quite afew varied types of threads and given his opinion on many topics where he has nothing to gain from doing so but the AZB forums benefit from having the input from an actual pro.

Sure this thread is pretty much shilling a product, but Mike has been fairly active on alot of threads where he also simply takes part in discussion so I am OK with this thread being what it is. Plus alot of people actually probably want to know about this upcomming cue given how hugely popular the BK2 is.

While this is a semi-ad for the stick, if I got to play with a prototype cue and got a break going that fast, I'd want to post it too!

So this guy pulls up in a Bugatti Veyron & the prius nerds gather around to tell him that he sucks because his 250mph car can't get 40+ mpg.

So this body builder walks into a bar & the MMA nerds gather around to tell him that he sucks because his 600# squats won't help him win a street fight.

So this 100m sprinter walks into a bar & the marathon nerds gather around to tell him that he sucks because his sprinters legs won't help him win a 15000m.

So this...

So this is one helluva an accomplishment, Mike. I wish I had 1/2 your breaking power. I can't get past 26.5mph with a BK2 (keeping the CB on the table anyway). You should get it recorded scientifically & get in the Guinness Book of World Records.

if he really was an active member who wanted to contribute he'd tell you the reason he can break that hard without busting a window or shattering a railbirds teeth is a decade of practice.. and he'd explain the drills/workouts he used to build his skill up to that level..

as opposed to "buy this magic cue stick" which is all he really said

Pool is one of the poorest paying sports out there and if someone can get a sponsorship to help pay the. Ills more power to them. Every other sport out there does it and to a much higher extent than we see in pool. So he got to use a new toy and posted some info about it. We should feel lucky there are a few sponsors out there trying to back some of the pros. Or should we stay in the dark ages?

typical cart before the horse pool player BS.. Phizer didn't create nascar..

nascar created a fan base AND THEN the sponsers came

we don't have a product.. I paid for 2 PPVs this year.. Hatch\Deshane and Bustamonte\Archer

in one match I saw two world class pro's and you could see in their eyes that each mans ultimate goal is to go down in history as the greatest player who ever lived..

and the other was a couple of immature street hustlers and you could see in each boys eye that their ultimate goal was $1000.00 and a ride to the track

one of those can be sold to the masses and the other is everything thats wrong with pool.. I'll let you figure out which is which

Have great equipment never hurt anyone . Having crap equipment on the other hand . I say buy the best you can afford and go to the SBE or some other show and try them all! Personally I like a really light break cue 17 oz or so made a world of difference for me.

The Cue has everything todo with break speed... Everyone is trying to find the cue that generates 100% transfer of energy... The BK2 is 90-92% from the tests... I am assuming if Mike upped his speed 3% they have found something that is around 95% COR.....

And as far as does he intend to break that hard?? No... What it means is he can hit the balls softer and get more energy transfer... Softer stroke with less speed is always more accurate than waylaying the balls... If the BK3 is 95% COR to generate 25mph he would strike the ball with a 26.32mph stroke... If he was using a leather tip like the Everest which is around 72% COR he would have to have a stroke speed around 34.72mph to get a 25mph cueball speed.... Which do you think is more accurate......

I don't believe your math is accurate. The cue weighs 3 times as much as the cue ball. I believe the cueball always travels significantly faster than the cue. A 100% efficient cue that weighs 3x the cueball weight would require an 8 mph swing to generate a 24 mph break. I think the situation you are describing involves a cue that weighs 6 ounces to break with! Maybe I got this wrong...?

Tonight I got the privilege to hit with the prototype BK-3. All I have to say is, WOW. On my second break, I hit the rack at 36.12 MPH. The work that has gone into this cue is like no other and I can't wait until I get one.

What work? Congrats, by the way!

I broke a rack at about 19mph and I thought I hit them pretty good. I must be a wimp!! Was using a app on someone's phone for the speed.

The relationship between cue ball/stick weight and speed is not linear as you described. I haven't looked it up or studied the math but I'm guessing the cue ball ends up traveling slower than the cue stick as there is clearly a loss of energy even with a perfect dead center hit.

It sounds like another step forward for an already good break stick....However, I do hope that the bk3 looks better than the 2. A friend of mine has a 2 and I love breaking with it, but man that is an ugly cue. My Samsara is the only cue that breaks as good as a bk2 (that I've found). But it looks fantastic. Of course, it cost a few more dollars than the bk2.

Agreed... which is one of the reasons why I switched over to the Mezz.

I don't want a cue with a corny gold panther crawling down the side of it.

Don't feel bad. I struggle to break twenty, only done it a handful of times in my life. I dunno what the secret is. Tried a variety of stances, bridge lengths, and cues. Maybe I need to start working out.

What does it look like and what tip does it have ? whens the possible release date ? anyone with any info thanks in advance
