...

I don't know where you live but Robin Dreyer would be a great choice to learn any pool game. He knows every shot made in pool. (period). Robindreyer.com would be his website.

contact TRW on AZ
Tom Wirth is by far the best instructor. He hasa penetrating insight
into all aspects of the game.
He has some videos that can be found here on Az sometimes if you know how to find them

good luck

As much as I like instructional books/dvd's, I find watching good matches is a great way to see all of it in action. If you are a good player at the other games, a great deal of knowledge can be gleaned from simply watching 1 pocket matches between good players on Youtube, Accu-stats and the like. If the commentary is good (anything with Jeremy jones, Billy Incardona, Danny D, etc) its even better as they have a great way of talking about the thought process as well as shot selection and the why of it all.

absolutely! Accu-stats is great resource ( edited my post to include it)

I just wish they had more of the vintage stuff.

I have asaid this before and I think it bears repeating:
You are an accomplished player. It puts you in a unique situation in that you know what you can do, and you know (to a significant degree) what will happen when balls collide.

Books, videos, secret hell from an earpiece...all guides. They provide a significant amount of insight, but they aren't for the most part a how-to.

I find it hard to think that given a layout of ball (s) on a table, you are *NOT* gonna know what to do a significant % of the time.

tom wirths book mentioned above is a great reference for concepts on how to play and strategy
here is a review from onepocket.org and info how to purchase
http://www.onepocket.org/news/one-pocket-a-game-of-controlled-aggression/
also watch as much video as you can with commentators
from you tube and accustats
grady's dvd's and scotts dvds are different in that scotts is showing more "power shots" and gradys has some of that but also more standard shots
last you may want to join onepocket.org
they frequently will put up a layout and start a wwyd (what would you do ) thread
the discussions are educational and constructive
very different from many threads here
good luck in your journey
its a GREAT GAME..:)

Tom's book, as well as "Winning One Pocket" and "Shot's Move's and Strategy" are 3 must have reference books for anyone serious about 1P.

As far as video's go, Scotts DVD's are more in the style of Tony's aggressive approach to the game. Grady's DVD's as well as Incardona's and Gabe Owen's DVD are more "old school" styles.... How to move, if you will. They are all worth while. You can watch these videos, play for a year, and go back, and watch them again, and pick up a new shot/move over, and over.... year after year.

There are ton's and ton's of You Tube videos worth watching....Ronnie Allen, Chris Gentile, Alex P......Also look for the Accu-Stats "Make it Happen" series as well.

come to the Hague Marek

there are 10-15 one-pocket players there that you can pick up tricks from
maybe we could do couple of sessions of teaching or sparring

i worked with Niels Feijen before he got 2nd at Derby
and i know that in DCC action room, Red Shoes and Buffalo's i stood my ground against 2nd and 3rd tier (not top 15)

Hmm i did search here on azb on this guy and it seems that his name stirs some drama..care to elaborate your view?

All of his posts are pimping out an instructor named Robin Dreyer. He even had the balls to come in here looking for SVB’s contact info so Robin could teach him how to break.

Being from Europe I have a hard time finding anyone to play 1pocket with, learning any finer points of the game is virtually impossible unless some fine gentleman from US travels to Europe on vacation/job. Being decent 8/9/10/14.1 player I want to widen my horizons so to speak by learning the game of 1-pocket to some extent so I wouldnt humiliate myself if I happen to encounter true 1pckt player. I consider buying some instruction dvd, looking at seyberts.com I can see "Power 1pocket" and "Power 1pocket V2" from Freezer, also they have "Killer 1pocket" and "Finer points of 1pocket" from Profesor available.
Which one of those instructors would your recommend? Are Scott and Grady equally informative or is any of these guys superior to the other? Or any other dvd maybe?
The only one time I played 1pocket with true 1pckt player I won 3:2 when I was able to run 8-and-out and pulled off some crazy stuff about which my opponent said that I did watch too much of Tony Chohan vids ;) I was able to outshoot my opponent on pure firepower and some creative thinking but when it got to the moves he choked me like a python. So basically I want to get more knowledgable about the moves/tactics, about the break etc. so the next time i would be ready tactically.
Your suggestions?
Thank you

I did a one pocket instruction video with Nick Varner and Buddy Hall as part of the legends DVD set here is a review http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?253724&p=3314957#post3314957 . It is available from my site link below. Nick has other DVDs on one pocket if you google it.
