just a quick post, i made it into the finals of the 2008 national 9b championship.
9b probably was my weakest game, and never made it into the finals since i played pool.

Im curently ranked in the low 50's, but i beat an ex top16 player 7-2, the #22 7-2 and the #15 with 7-6. Im not sure if i will win any match in the finals, but i'm defently hoping to win a match and finish in the last 16 wich would be huge for me. 3y ago i made it into the finals of the 8ball, where i could have won a match, but my oponent called a STUPID fault on hill hill. I made the final ball, and took out the balls of the pocket before the 8 was pocketed. so i'm in for a revenge !!

I would like to thank:
- colin for his break info and all the back hand english info. now im consistently potting 2balls on the break, i dont even have to think about it, they just ALWAYS go in, the cb never jumps anymore i could do it blindfolded probably, and skinny me (6feet tall and 55kg..) is really breaking them HARD! The controle is close to good, but could use some more finetuning, as im getting my cb often kicked in the middle pocket. need to find a place on the table to rest the cb so it doesnt get kicked away.
- niels feyen for his video of the dutch 14-1 record, because i finally found that his rhitm suites my natural rithme and preshotroutine the best.
- and all the post on this forum about: griping the cue lighter, the video about the importance of half ball hit someone on AZ posted, using spin to move the cb around instead of power, dropping the elbow on some shots really helps, the post about how to lag (i have won 9-10 lags in the last week :D now i can consistently put the cb at less then 1 ball wide from the cusion.)
- myself for stopping to play as a snookerplayer, and moving to a poolplayer. Made me play bad for a year, but now, WOW what a difference ! :D

i know i know, stupid post, but i'm so happy i just needed to post it. With not much training, because of the upcoming mariage, im still playing better and better and getting some good results :D Once maried, i should be putting up more hours of training, and the next goal is to get a level good enough to play in the eurotour.

Can't wait for the 8ball and especially the 14-1 nationals !! i should move up the rankings to the top32. Seeing i started 3y ago with pool at place 200+ i can't be complaining !

Finals are 20 april, (next sunday) and i'm READY for it

Great Job, Solly!

It's great to see it all the hard work paying off for you!

Good luck to you in the finals!

Solly,
Congratulations. I ALWAYS like to hear reports about how the forum members perform in competition. Excellent performance on your part. Good things come to those that study the game - you have obviously been working hard.

P.S. - not so sure about that "I'll get to play more when I'm married" theory. It didn't work out in my case. Good luck.

Thats cool Solly. It sounds like you have a goal and you are going for it. Good luck on your marriage and hows that Diamond playing?

the diamond is playing greath ! but i don't have enough place (but i knew that when i started). Its perfect to train certain things, the down side is: i can't break my freaking 14-1 record ! i have to use the dwarfcue or jack up way to often. still, best buy i ever did, worth every peny :D

Yesterday i played another 2 hours and made: 28,26,25,25,22,16,15,15,14.
I know im on the break of making a good jump in my game. My new playing style, rhytm, preshot etc is all startting to come natural and i'm finaly able again to play in the zone. Its weird but i just feel there is a big break coming up!

thanks blackjack for the suport :D I'll let you know how i'll do in the 14-1 nationals, because thats my main goal. Neat in, neat out, and solly goes for the victory! I still need to buy you book, but i have spend already so much money the last months, it will have to wait till after the mariage, or the wife will kill me.

WBM: wishfull thinking probably :D but i need to keep the faith that i'll be able to play more.

Thanks for the compliments, and i'll do my best to bring my A game to the finals :D

Wooooohoooooooooo :D happy solly !!

today was the finals of the 2008 9ball national Championship.
My goal was to qualify for the last32 wich i did, so playing in the finals would be a greath experience. I wasnt kidding myself, and putting any high goals, just trying to enjoy it. I slept 4 hours, 2hour drive to the club, i wasnt in best of shape.

1st game: I win 7-3 from the #10 ranked :D
2s game: i lost 6-7 (i will never ever forget that match. He finished 2d in the last national top ranking event. One of the best players in the countryn in a race to 7. i was trailing 0-4. came back 5-4 to miss an easy 9, dogged another one at 6-5, so its a hill hill. He brakes but leaves the 9ball at 1/4th" of the corner pocket. I'm all shaking, my legs feel like spageti, my arm was shaking like an epilepsi-atack, so i went for a deep screw shot to nudge the 9 in, NO way i could clear a rack at that time. I was scared of screwing the CB in too, so i tried to judge it right, i nudged the 9 and it stopped at 1/16" from the pocket. i lost, but that was a huge mental win. it made me think, if i can do 6-7 from him, why am i still doubting.
3th game: i won 7-1  i was cruzing on autopilot
4th game: i lost 3-7 vice European champion with the veterans, he won 9 out of the 10 last national veteran rankings, 20y of experience, got my ass kicked. played bad, wasnt concentrated, learned alot.

so i finished in #13th place and SO happy. :D for a B ranking player like me thats HUGE.

congrats mate, I'm so happy for you :) Keep up the good work for the upcoming events which i'm sure you would preform better and better after every competition you join ;)

Congrats!!
