Lou is at a swank all-inclusive resort drinking an all-u-can-drink margarita posting on azb instead of enjoying paradise. Pool IS his paradise just like Lou would have his left nut surgically removed in secret if it meant he could magically play like John.

Lou's 401k might swallow John's whole, but this ain't the Yahoo Finance forum nor is it the Forbes Forum. On this site, we're talking pool and only Lou would get shut up by someone who can spot him the world and then point to his wallet to belittle the better player and then imply he's the "winner" of the back-and-forth.

His wife prob just threw his iPad in the Pacific Ocean in frustration.

Do you think Lou has come across in this thread as a "jealous hater"?

Blessedly, I don't usually see Spider's stuff because of the wonderful "ignore" feature here, but... my wife is sitting next to me sun bathing and reading a book. As to the rest: the resort is not all-inclusive it's a lux place we stayed at a year ago for New Years; the margaritas are on the rocks made with Patron; tonight we're going out to one of the best restaurants in town; and I believe it is illegal to say the words "all you can drink" and Cohiba in the same sentence, but there it is.

Spider, dispite your amusing fantasies about me, I play pool for yucks and ain't givin' up nothin' to play like anybody. I once gave up the game for 10 years because I have some sense of what is truly important in life and nowadays I play pool for just a few hours during the day, rarely venturing out to play at night or on the weekends, preferring to cook dinner for my wife of 26 years and spend time with her. Two or three times a year I go to a big tournament to donate money to the pros.

No, no -- don't bother responding. I gave up pool for 10 years, you're easy ;-)

The bottom line is Mosconi was the player of his era, and he has many records that will stand, including his many world championships....and it's hard to use the "way back" machine to decide who was better.

It does not matter. Heck, Babe Ruth still gets the attention, even though Lou Gehrig gives Ruth the 8 and the breaks....

The only thing that bothers me is the old "well, if somebody wanted to break the record they could"....

Well, then break it already...or pipe down. Everyone keeps saying they could, or he could or he might, or this, that or the other thing. Then just break it already, and do it on a 6 foot table, but by God, do it, rather than keep talking about that somebody "could"......

If I could, I'd friggin do it and post on Utube, and write a friggin book, and buy myself a shirt and hat that said "Mr. 527" on it and walk around like the Pool God I truly am and enjoy every second of it until I milked it for all it was worth !!! And I'm not kidding :)

Amen. Do it or shut up.

Quoted for Lou to see....because it's worth seeing.

Is there any evidence this surgery would accomplish that? If so, I'm calling my doctor. I've been married 32 years, got "fixed" quite some time ago, I'm sure one would be adequate for my needs these days. Just think, if it worked and I became a road warrior of great repute, I could get a nickname like "One Nut Mark".

Hank Aaron wasn't a cheater, but Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire, and Barry Bonds (who is now the current MLB homerun record holder) certainly did when they all three surpassed Hank Aaron's homerun record!!!

Maniac (and to this day, they still LIE about it )

Bonds(the cheater)is the only one to break Aaron's record. The other two broke Maris' single season record and they were both cheaters too.

As a member of this forum, that reads often and posts little. I'll contribute to this thread by saying in the past 11 pages, it has been nothing but a pissing contest between Mosconi fans and John Schmidt.

Fans ask why John won't try to run over 526 and his answer is because he doesn't want to. What's wrong with that? Chill out people.

Ummmm, that's what arguments usually are, but thanks for the heads up anyways :)

Well, of course you are entitled to your opinion, but mine is that that is far, far from from what has been going on (doesn't hurt to pick up the CB now and then either).

IMO, the central issue is that guys have figured out that they can put up bigger runs if they constantly run the balls through a polisher as the run goes on, so that the balls pop open like a bag of spilt popcorn when they hit a break shot. It's a significant difference for a player going for a big time run, IMO.

We all get that clean equipment performs better than dirty equipment. The question is, why do you think that's a bad thing?

Is the game meant to be played under subpar conditions? The enormous skill of running 527+ not sufficient, the player must fight additional obstacles? Is it ok he takes a piss break or cleans his cue?

dont take this wrong way but your runs end well before balls get dirty. so u arent plagued with runs lasting so long balls get gummy etc.
i think i might have run 200 then recleaned on way to 366,both 400 pluses never touched them.
i think corey might have cleaned them at 150 on way to 229.
anyway i wouldnt clean them to break open better. on new cloth ,tight racks they break open great anyway. its to get rid of chalk and hand oil to get rid of skids. an afficianado like u should know that.
i think the true key to be a great player is to play 4x8 ,new cloth, carry own waxed balls around, only play 30 ball runners in exibition if possible,be seeded into finals for world championship, duck on money games citing sponsor contracts and of course its actually not wanting to lose in front of crowd,.
im too close to the game of course to see things clearly but this is what many experts of those days tell me anyway.
on a side note i hate street parking.inside joke but u know what i mean .

Never mind the smaller tables and bigger pockets the "classic" players used. That in no way had anything to do with their "big time runs."
