$550,000 Cue collection

He doesn't seem to mention any famous brands (bushkas) in there. No 'story' cues like "here's the cue Ralph Greenleaf used in his final world championship victory vs. Irving Crane" Is someone really going to pay half a mil on cues just because they're old? What's the mindset here that it's gotta be all or nothing? He could at least break them into lots of, say, 5. There are probably ten guys willing to blow 50 grand on cues. But the number of guys willing to spend 500 grand must be very close to zero.
 
At least some pretty nice racks & cases are included, or you can buy the racks seperately.
If you have the room and a spare half a mil laying around, it would be a cool collection to have.
Since I don't have a spare half a mil I won't put a pencil on what a
reasonable offer would be, but it looks real high.
He should break it up and sell it in groups of 5 or 10, and the racks individually.
 
I read the description and the only cue he mentions is an ivory engraved Paul Mottey cue that he wants $28,000 price is firm. That seems a little steep to me. Never seen a Mottey that expensive.
 
CreeDo...It's not just cues. It's the Stellinga's entire pool collection...and it's worth every dollar. They have collected cool pool memorabilia for 40 yrs, and they have some of the best examples of collectable stuff out there.

Ted- Do they have any Lucasi cues? Maybe they do and thats why the price is so high. :grin:
 
If I had $500,000 to spend on cues I'd rather be buying Szambotis, Searings, Showmans, Black Boars, Tascarellas, Motteys, Whites, Scruggs, Cochrans etc.
 
IMO, he is going about this all wrong.

No one is going to pay $550,000 for stuff that is essentially sight-unseen.

I have bought things from Mark Stalinga; he is a very nice guy. I know he wants to retire and not have the hassle of selling the cues individually, but this just won't work. If I am wrong, congratulations to him.

Actually, it said in the ad that the seller foresees that any potential buyer would want to see the collection in person and listed a phone number to make an appointment.
