Some guy from Sweden broke the high run record, VP4 only allows for a 500 point game so he started at minus 99. Here is the Video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4OtgCWdAOU&feature=share&list=PL5fg1W4HRLNDz39Wg1tBUEOlMukTjne-J
sad, excited over virtual pool
Dont knock it, till you try it. You would be suprised how many players have this simulator. Anything that can be done on a real table can be done in this simulator
No it cant.On a game your stroke is just the games in real pool your stroke is yours. We could add a little more but that would be silly to compare .
The physics of this simulator is as close to real life as you'll get. Even Bob Jewett, and David Alciatore was mentioned in the credits for experiments and feedback
Well, no, but VP will let you know which shots are possible before you can make them yourself. I also found it useful for working on patterns. You can repeat exactly the same shot to see how best to vary it for position. Are you holding a cue on the simulator?

Why does the rack change immediately before every break shot?
This game is on my to do list...
I once shot -28 in Tiger Woods Golf in a single round with medium wind, tiger tees, long rough -- basically the hardest settings without using gale force wind (just one click lower, breezy it might be called). No mulligans, etc, etc.
You wanna know what that means?
Absolutely nothing.
If someone runs 20000 balls in virtual pool or -28 in Tiger Woods golf - who cares. In Tiger Woods golf, your swing is always perfect and once you understand how the game figures break/speed, you make the adjustment and make putts from wherever. Same with the wind/elevation, when you know how much the wind/elevation affects you from what distance, you adjust and get the heartbeat every single time.
In VP, your stroke is as straight as a beam of light. So, it's the same thing. Assuming the aiming thing was indeed turned off and once you get the hang of where to aim, you just move the mouse and make the ball.
It's like guys that get 100000000000 points in Pac Man on a single quarter because they know the ghost patterns for every level.

Nobody said it was REAL POOL.....Its a simulator... A tool for learning position play, speed of the shot, where the cueball goes after contact , all the principals of real life play. Practice kicking systems, banks. The physics is as close to real life as it gets. And as far as tiger woods, your swing is not always perfect, unless you are playing on 2 click, On true swing its a totally different ball game. Virtual Pool isnt any different than any other Simulator.. FLight simulator etc. It gives you all the principals of collisions of spheres, applied english cloth speed rail speed squirt swerve etc. a lot of work went into this. Nothing can replace the real thing, however its the next best thing to real.
Mr. 8pack. I have played VP in all of the versions they have produced and it is amazingly accurate as in real pool. Angles, draw, follow, deflection, etc. If you haven't tried it, why are you knocking it? Whether you hold an actual cue or not, you can actually learn from it. Is it the "perfect" pool game for a computer? At this point in time, YES!!
Someone does something special and people have to knock it. I just don't understand the negativity of some people.
