so $3150 for a ~$2500 cue....

This is the exact reason why the raffles are getting stupid....

I'm really surprised they are allowed on this forum. They are illegal in most states and I think gouging is the reason. Never heard of anyone getting busted for having them though.

I might not win this cue, who knows , maybe I will. I do know that the cue is one that generates desire in most players and collectors. I know in 10 years you will not be able to touch this cue for $3150. You may feel the need to vehemently voice your opinion as to whether there is a $650 discrepancy in the current price of this cue. The broader picture shows that the cue will only increase in value. The raffle is full of knowledgeable people who all agree that the offering is fair and very attractive. The speculation has ended with a resounding show of approval from our peers here, and any snide, classless attack after the fact is moot.

I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone, but I am going to respond as it appears (based upon your caluculations) you are referring to me.

Good luck to you in this raffle. Just as you can voice your opinion, I can voice mine as well in the fact that this cue is overpriced and the seller is using a bandwagon methodology to make a few extra bucks. Sure - this is a desireable cue, but there is another SW that is going for $2650 with LOA. Do you mean this cue is worth $500 more because of an ebony forearm?

I do agree that they will appreciate in time, but I just looked at the list of people involved in this raffle and it's not chocked full of the names that you make out to be "full of knowledgeable people". It's full of people willing to toss up $75 in hopes to get a $2500 cues. That's it.

ps. There was no "classless attack" after the fact. It's quite evident you didn't read the chain of events.

This is what alexB had to say on on sw whitten post
AlexB said:
What someone paid for a cue vis-a-vis current selling price is irrelevant. A seller sets a selling price, the prospective buyer can proceed accordingly to determine the value relative to them. In other words, it is none of your damn business what Hal paid for the cue, and it is rude and disrespectful to comment as such in his thread.
This is what bamacues said
Bamacues said:
What a person paid for a cue has absolutely nothing in regards to the asking price or future value, etc of a cue. I don't know why some folks want to try and de-value a person's prospective sale by saying "I know how much you paid for that on Ebay..etc".

The cue will either sell for the asking price, or it won't. The market will determine that. If no one ever made a profit on a cue, there would be no need for a "Wanted/For Sale" forum.

BTW, Hal...sweet package at a great price. Wish I had something to offer for it.

JMHO

and this is what u said on the same thread.i think u should read again.

Prior selling/buying price has nothing to do with it.... It's worth what someone is willing to pay.... Be it you or someone else - if you're purchasing something, you'd better be an informed consumer aware of market value.

I think you missed the point, brainiac..... you pulled from a thread that was talking about prior selling price vs. current asking price....

Not relevant to current thread, but nice try...

I think it is quier relevant as u your yourself said that value of a cue is determined by what someone wants to pay and what someone wants to sell.
So i put up a product at a price which i think is right considering that i have to bear paypal, insurance and shipping charges which come close to 200usd itself.
And the resounding acceptance of this raffle is that people do think the price is fair.

and you can go ahead and say anything because u r never gonna have this beauty

Dude - I let it go because you were right - people are paying..... but I do have the right to respond to someone that was referring to what I said.

I don't want your "beauty", I have my own.... thanks.
