Solids or stripes? What's the plan?

I like the stop shot on the solid, 7-ball. Then to the 5-ball, hopefully sliding up to the side rail for the 4 and 3 ball then back up table for the remaining 3 balls up table.

I am not sure which of the three I would start with up top because it is dependent on how I do clearing the 4 and 3 ball because of the tightness of position needed to get back down table.

Someone else with a more accurate cueball may opt for the 6, 1, 2 all stop shot for the 8 in the right side pocket. Personally, I don't think I could get on the six for a stop shot or at least a stun off the rail for straight in on the one.

3-4-5-7-6-1-2-8

This pattern...

Only challenging stroke shot is putting slight draw after 3 ball from the starting cue ball distance. Tight margin between 13 and 4. Overstroking the draw might cause the 3 to make contact before getting to pocket.

Only challenging position hop is 5 to 7 ball.

I think the real test in this pattern is landing on the 6 just right.... You dont want to be between the 8 and 15 ball. Too much angle and you could lose position. Its not a hard out but the 6 ball is the problem ball for solids.

I am going 7-5-3-4-6-2-1-8

I don't like the shot on the 3 right off the hop, the pocket is small. The shape from the 5 to the 7 to the 6 on the other patern mentioned has heaps that can go wrong with the slightest poor angle due to the 12/15/9 cluster and the shape from the 7 to the 6 requiring alot of cueball movement to get a good shot past the 14.

Agreed the shapes for the six are difficult.

The three doesn't appear any easier even when you're closer. Any slight skid and you miss the shot. I like the 4 first then the 3.

What's wrong with being between the 8 and 15 for the 6? Lol, that's exactly where I'd be wanting to be for the 6

Since solids are clearly the choice, it's mostly a tossup between:

• 7 first
• 3 first
• 4 first

- 4 first is out. There's enough angle that you sort of need to kill it with low right. You can't just hit firm and towards the middle of the hole without probably bumping the 3. Other things can go wrong, like you overcook it and end up behind/jacked over the 8.

- Between 3 first and 7, I like 7. It's got a full pocket, and stopping dead is easier than trying to draw just right. Since the 3 must go through a window (less than a full pocket) I want to be shooting it from a little closer, with a comfy bridge, not with the 1 in the way. Also, the cue ball goes naturally from the 3-4 to the other problem ball, the 6. I wouldn't want to try to get on it from the 7 or uptable balls.
