90's Joss West Worth $150?

I was just offered a Joss West with with 4 or 8 Inlays in the butt, no points, for $150.

I'm not too familiar with Joss or Joss West.

Is this worth it?

Should I take him up on the offer?

Rolls straight.

make sure it is a josswest;

then grab it before somebody gets it out from under you , not that any poolplayer would ever do a thing like that.

Never seen a JW plain jane with inlays in the butt, could be, who knows.

I do know JOSS has made plenty fitting that description.

If it's the latter, that's about what it's worth, if it's indeed a JW, I'll triple your money ;)

It's worth around $700 give or take. Make sure it says Josswest or JW. They are not the same cue as a Joss.

Except one made in the 1990's WILL NOT have a stand alone "JW" on the buttcap.

And as earlier referenced, a Merry Widow with inlays? Sounds like a JOSS, not a Joss West.

Could be, but even if it is just a plain old Joss it should be worth $150.

Yes, some do - or also under the bumper. He started using the "JW" on the buttcap in the mid 1990's to current - I have one.

You obviously know nothing about cues since you have to ask about the value of a Joss West. I would seriously consider the seller as I doubt that anyone with a real Joss West would give it away for $150 unless it was hot or bogus.

I think its worth it. I have bought 2 older JW cues for about 300.00 or so..They hit good and you will be happy with it. This is a pic of the butt of one of them that I bought cheap. Its a 4 pointer. I have another that has no points and has 4 diamond inlays in the butt. Nothing fancy, just old, good playing cues. I was offered 1k for this cue as it is from 3 people on here since Bill Stroud posted on a thread that my cue was made in Tulsa and its the only one like it made.

If the cue is straight, you will be happy with it.

I think you consult Hu - Shooting Arts. He is the moral compass on this forum when it comes to these types of deals. Whatever he says you should pay for the cue is what you should pay.

If it's me and I feel that the person selling the cue has every right to sell it and the cue is in decent shape and is really a Joss West then I could not get the $150 out of my pocket fast enough.

People are hurting for money now days.....for me at least, running across buys like this around here happen every now and then, not all the time, but 1 nice old cue every cpl months or so.

There is a much fancier 80's JW cue that a guy I work with has he hasnt played pool in about 20 yrs. If I can ever get him to bring it in to work, I can pick it up for about 350.00-450.00. he said he has 3 older cues but cant remember the names of them and wants to sell them as well. Just have to get together with him and find out if they are worth anything or not. This is the main reason I always have cash on me at all times, people hurting for money, and they sell nice stuff cheap.
