A Letter from Mike Dechaine

Meanwhile Mike is running out like water at the Joss tour in Providence.
Just keep taking them down Mike.

At his home room and hardly world class talent it's a satellite tour he is in his comfort Zone there ,, that' would hardly be the case at the MC in a high pressure hostile environment ,, we are not talking Jordan here

Yes, but he won the Ginky Memorial undefeated in New York with Jayson Shaw and Mika Immonen in the field and won the Quebec 9-ball three weeks ago against a stellar field that included Immonen, Archer and Hohmann. On the Joss Tour, at Raxx on Long Island, Mike prevailed against a field that included both Earl Strickland and Jeremy Sossei. Even at the Derby City 9-ball, in his 6th place finish, Mike was the only guy that beat Van Boening.

Other than Shane and possibly Archer, there isn't an American player whose game travels as well as Mike's and who performs better under pressure right now.

For some reason, these days it's in vogue to discredit Mike's play, but your suggestion that he needs home cooking to succeed is somewhere between uninformed and ridiculous.

His record in competition screams loudly that, right now, he is America's second best player in rotation games.

Yeah like an APA 3 would know talent.
So filled with hate. He rob you once?
You don't know a thing about pool if you deny his talent.
Why should he travel now? Name a big event in the US he's missing. Every week or two he makes a grand or two in a regional event because that's what's available.
He will be ready to shock the world at the US Open, turning stone and DCC soon enough.

I am sure he can be backed to play 10 to 20k against anybody but SVB. That money is available but dont see any US players looking to play. It would be a very bad bet.

He's very talented.

What you're not getting is that sometimes a player's emotional outbreaks can get in the way of that talent, and make them play well below their best.

And what you're not getting is that he finishes in the top of every 9ball or 10ball event he plays in. He's far better than people are giving him credit for.

Stroke can we please bet something on the MC. You think passing over the most talented players and singing camp fire songs is gonna get it done? Please bet me I will bet my 1000 to your 500.

I know next you will say that you don't bet and how it makes you a better person. Please prove me wrong and bet. I just love free money.

I'll take your thousand to my 200 on this years cup.

That's funny when Rodney was looking for a big cash game I don't remember Mike stepping up to the plate ,, C J. Said here he's the best big stake player out ther . But what's he know
I seen mike play countless times , I know how he plays in fact my friend Ryan McCreesh playing with my cue beat him at the SBE after fading Mikes sharking tactics

I never said he can't play but who on the list can't ,, you act like he's miles ahead of the rest and he's simply not ,, it's a race to five alternating break that minimizes talent differences ,,
The fact is he is a well known head case the risk reward is just not there on this team,,
You know the saying one bad apple,,,that's what Marks trying to avoid

First of all kudos to Mike for coming on here and publicly making these comments. I wish him the best in the future as well. I have always admired his talent for the game, going so far as to stake him in the U.S. Open twice when he was still a young and upcoming player. When he struggled at the Mosconi Cup I reached out to support him as well. I knew he was feeling swamped with all the pressure and that can be a heavy burden to carry.

No question he has created some demons of his own making in his young life, and none of us really know what goes on in his head. I sure don't. I think his post on here is a sign of his emerging maturity. Unfortunately the harsh reality of life is that the things you say and do will come back to haunt you.

Mike is still young at 27 and there will be MANY opportunities for him in the future if he plays his cards right. That will be up to him as much as the people making the choices.

And lastly I wholly support Mark Wilson as the Captain of our Mosconi Cup team! I love what he is doing with the team and win or lose it will set a positive example for future American teams. Now if we can just make Canada a part of America :), then we can include John Morra and Jason Klatt in the mix!

You know McCreesh? Well maybe you aren't a total nit.

Most all of these players are head cases if you haven't noticed. Mike is all right. People greatly exaggerate his attitude. I can think of many who are a lot worst. I'd bet on him anytime.

Ya Ryan can be worst so can I that's how we became friends Irish head cases , I have put him in turnys a bunch of times including the SBE not that yr he just used my cue
I in fact have told him his behavior has cost him a lot of money ,, Mikes still young he can get it under control,

Mike is a great player he will have plenty of yrs to get on the team , and if it was not for the behavior of last yrs group he could have been this yr
Mark was brought in to change that ,, I'm sure he thought about it and concluded it would be a win win leaving him off ,, he does not have to worry about him, and Mike will become better for it

Guys like McCreesh are pure entertainment. Just mic them up and let them go. I back him in the pit whenever he's there. Almost broke off 2 k in 4 games last SBE.

I agree I hate pool in a church setting the pit with Him and McCreedy was the best of all time .. I had a lot of fun with Ryan wish he still lived down here ,, I couldn't make it to the SBE this yr I hope to next yr ,,

Team Chemistry

Sounds like you guys would like to see Dechaine, McCreesh, Strickland, Harriman and (TBD) on the MC team with Marty Herman as the captain!

And 5 B&R's on his 9 breaks in that final set!

The guy is on fire. I've played at Snookers on that stream table and it is very tight. You need to shoot really straight to keep running out on it, but right now, Mike Dechaine is doing just that.
