A Professional without Integrity

You know what, there are few people that I don't see some sort of positve in. But some people / pro's are really jerks. A dealer actually sponsored a pro for the year. You are looking at a couple of K probably minimum. Anyway, the guy went to the US Open and didn't even wear his sponsor's patch. Imagine, the only thing in the contract that was required, the guy didn't do it!

Wow. Anyway, he has been ditched by the company now. I'm wondering why some people are just jerks.. or plain dumb.

I think most of the pro players are good, fan friendly people who are trying their best to grind out a living doing what they love to do. A small minority of people in ANY profession or segment of society are jerks. This can't just be limited to pro pool players.

If a majority of people all have the same opinion of a player, that he / she is a "jerk", then that player is probably a "jerk" in their neihborhood, home, ect, not just in pooldom. They were probably like that back in school also. Who knows why somebody deviates and journeys down the road to jerkhood?

What's the point of this thread? To advise the world that there is at least one dishonest pro player? To make the philosophical obsservation that each dishonest pro makes pool players, as a group, less marketable. I think we all realize this. I'm sorry for your bad experience, but you have basically said nothing here.

LET IT GO, if you are not going to out the individual here then quit whining on the forum. Write it off as a bad business decision, jeez it is 400.00 forget about it and move on or step up and get your money if you want it that bad.

Good Luck

Loan repayment from pool player

I will name names!! One time I lent Larry Price $40 as the tournament was in progress. As I recall I had to leave before he won. He didn't pay me at the time, or later, and I saw him 6 months later in Atlanta. I mentioned the money to him, and he told me his wife was, at that moment, stranded on the interstate in West Virginia, and he asked me to loan him an additional $100. I was angry at the time, but looking back, I simply believe that pool players in general are, "not responsible". The fault was mine. Not that I wouldn't lend him the money again, I would, I would just know that he was never going to pay me back. But with that knowledge of pool players, I enjoy them more. You, as the lender or trust-or, must simply rise up out of your ignorance. This will enable you to enjoy the world, and its pool players, as they are, and not as you wish they were.

My thoughts exactly!

What in the world do you hope to gain from posting this thread? What good can be achieved from this? What's your agenda? Ceebee... You've lost credibility here.

Non payment

I have play alot of pool for $$$ and have had people not pay and I have had them fire bs money at my wad (nits). Here is the way to handle situations like this. You said you were owed $400. I would told him (before you start) to play $200 sets and POST up two sets. Put the $$$ on the light or let someone hold it. Now he has to pull out the cheese!!!! Or here is another way.
I beat a guy out of $800 one night, didn't get paid, and took home a beautiful 6pt shaun, with three shafts!!!!!

Surely one of them is NOT a class act, probably both.

One of our greatest players has Stiffed me for $400. He took two BreakRAKs with a promise of selling them at his local Pool Room & sending the company the money.

The player has been aproached a few times, over 2+ years, & PM'd here at the AZBilliard site, but the promises are never fulfilled. A couple of other high ranking Pros (friends of mine) approached the player at Allen Hopkins, about the rotten deal.

The player would rather be a liar & theif, than cough up $400. This doesn't seem right for a person to be that way. The future of Professional Pool may come. With folks like this, companies will have to be wary about sponsoring the players, which degrades their profession & their livelihood.

What do you folks think about this. These heroes of ours should be good people, not just good Pool Players.

your first mistake is calling any pool player a "hero" - they are normal people like anyone else who play good pool. glad you resolved the issue.

"...I am asking the community about ethics & integrity...."

There's no question here about ethics and integrity. Do you really expect someone to say that this was ethical?? Honestly, you really posted this here to veil a threat to post his name if he doesn't pay you. Hope it works out for you, but if you posted his name it would help all of us.

Very astute of you. You nailed the poster's motivation, and it worked as planned.

.....dude, there are Heroes and then there are Zeroes. Not just in pool, but in life. Personally, I think that we see fewer and fewer real heroes as time goes on.

Sean (sure wishing that trend would change)

I still don't get it!

She is full of herself. She got a facelift, and dumped her 20+ year husband after starting to get popular.
