A run of 21 at 3-cushion on YouTube

My high run in 3c is 4 which I attribute mostly to luck. This is an awesome video. This content provider, Kozoom.com and others provide some of the best video quality you can expect for any sporting event.

Thanks for posting.

Mine is 4 also. I've run 3 numerous times and had the fourth elude me by the thickness of a sheet of paper. I haven't hit a billiard ball in over 15 years.

Bob,

Thanks for the link. I found it entirely enjoyable, and then watched a 22 ball run by Jaspers.

Wow, great billiards!

Rep your way!!

Thanks for showing us that, Bob. Any idea how many runs of that length or longer have been captured on tape/video?

Here is a YouTube video of a run of 21 at 3-cushion billiards. It looks easy.

The shooter is Kasidokostas from Greece. He is a former junior world champion and 2009 world champion. He is currently ranked 6th in the world. He starts behind in the match 39-29 playing to 50 points. His opponent is Dick Jaspers, the current world #1, who is often the grand average leader in tournaments.

The event is an invitational sponsored by AGIPI, a company in France. This year the format guaranteed that the top junior players would get a lot of play.

Thanks for sharing that was great.

Dick Jaspers getting a taste of his own medicine

Bob:

Really, REALLY enjoyed that -- thanks for posting! Finally, Dick Jaspers had the tables turned on him, for the many runouts he executed against opponents.

Much like this marvelous run of 20:

...and this run of 22:

Granted, these weren't runouts to entirely conclude the match, but were enough to put the opponent into such trouble as to be nearly unrecoverable.

Runs that long are fairly rare now because most top players play in sets of 15-point games. Accu-Stats has a 15-and-out run of Raimond Burgman from one of the Las Vegas WorldCups. He did it against Sang Lee in the only set he won in that match.

Now that the Crystal Kelly tournament has ended, the best chance to see a long run in competition is likely at the Agipi tournament. Matches in both are/were to 50 points. Some national championships may still be single-set format but they are not often taped. Some of the European league matches are taped. I think the run of 22 linked by Sean above was in the French league.

Amazing stuff. He hit almost every one of those in the face and his speed was identical each shot -- just enough to bump the third ball five to six inches.

yes i noticed that
it was really an amazing display of skill
thanks for posting that bob

Kasidokostas and Polychronopoulos are both monsters...if we followed 3 cushion more in the U.S. they'd be as well known as Souquet and Van den Berg. Polychronopoulos has been a top player for many years. Lately, some pretty strong 9 ball players are sprouting out in Greece, we'll start hearing about them on the Eurotour soon (since we DO pay a little attention to that). 21 and out is insane!

Fantastic links.

Thank you for providing. I love watching them play, and thinking about what shot I'd play before they approach. I have not played much since college. My high was 6. I've hit 5 a few times. Anymore, a run of 2 is nice...:)

I wish more people played.

wonderful run

nice to see and watch ,I have memories of watching HOWARD LINDLEY run 21 at the minneapolis recreation sometime in the 1950s. he was the best in the state at both pocket and 3 cushion. in my opinion the best ever to come out of minnesota in either game.

That wasn't simply good, it was frickin' UNBELIEVABLE! IMO Three Cushion Billiards is the hardest game on a table using sticks and balls, harder than pool or snooker. To see someone make a run like this is AWESOME! He had to avoid kisses and hit some very narrow openings to make several of these shots. He made a very difficult game look easy and IT'S NOT!!!!

Thanks Bob for sharing this little piece of billiards brilliance. Too cool for school! :thumbup2:

I'm bumping this thread to point out that Kasidokostas has had to change over to playing left-handed because of tremors in his right hand. Here is an article about it: http://www.kozoom.com/en/billiard-carom/news/filippos-kasidokostas-the-wonderboy-is-back.html

He plays close to his former level with only six months of practice with his left hand.
