ABR Special Report - French Press Conference

I tend to believe French mostly, Dennis sounds sly. 10 yr contract was Dennis's idea to get a green card, makes sense.
French's down fall was accepting the accolades, no big deal, he got a big head. Others can chime in who were involved with the stream. Manny, Ko, Upstate Al and a couple others whose names escape me.

I believe French is out money and Dennis took him for a ride.

In my view both JF and DO both come out of this saga tarnished. SVB was right to keep clear of there shonky practises. I will never know who is telling the truth!

Seems to me there is a lot more money in this PPV stuff than streamers let on. Get Steinway and Upstate Al on the radio.

As far as the Dennis and the French interviews...to me they both need to get out of U.S pool.

IMO there are more than a dozen people that knew they were playing for less than advertised at Steinway and going to be less at Carom.

What I'm doing is not buying anything any of who I feel knew what was going on before the PPV started to roll.

The very people that say they are helping pool are really helping to dig the hole deeper for the casket, and make a few bucks along the way. Johnnyt

He says Dennis won't bet his own.....out of one side of his mouth.

Out of the other side he tells us Dennis was putting up $25,000 of the $50,000.

That's because there's a huge difference between saying you are gonna do something and actually doing it. I've yet to pick a " side " in this mess but the interview tonight certainly was interesting and changed everything ( assuming it was indeed factual and could be taken at face value ). There's the problem as I see it, I have no way of telling who is actually telling the truth and about what.

Dennis may be one of the best pool players in the world, but I wouldn't trust him playing Stevie Wonder with my money. He sounds like the World Champion "Middler" to me...will put you in the middle in a minute if he thinks he can make a dime.

They need to get everybody on here to explain everything...Upstate Al, Manny, and the whole damn bunch.

Well I listened to the interview. I think there is much to French's position, although the one-sided contract certainly looks bad. If what he says is true, he did pony up the funds to get this match put together. Expecting Dennis to put in anything of his own was a big mistake.

What I walk away with is: My hand firmly on my wallet when it comes to pool. Duh.

Yeah, but Dennis apparently committed to put up half.

What's interesting is that Dennis apparently doesn't really think he can beat Shane. (which of course most of us also think)

The entire world in an underdog against Shane at 10 ball. And Dennis knows it

It's not surprising really. The match as set up totally plays to Shane's strengths. It's not surprising that Dennis couldn't get staked after everybody saw the outcome of the TAR match (except partially by John French). Now 9 ball on a tight table might make it a little better for Dennis.

Basically, I think in French's mind, with the stream proceeds and VIP seat revenues, he had a free roll at his 25K being gambled. If Dennis somehow managed to beat Shane, he stood to make a lot. If he lost it was about break even.

One of the bigtime pool gurus posted on here that....."Dennis would never be a part to something like that and that Dennis is a good friend", and..and..and...
Yeah, sureee.....:boring2:

I have listened to the interview and to me Frenchy appeared to tell the truth. I am not sure what to believe right now... little confused coz the contract was very one-sided and I wanted to beat him to death when commentating...

Things sure look different now! But it is not over yet.... that I am sure ;)

I do not believe gurus, everyone is in it for the money.

I hope Dennis is smart enough to give French back the $6500 that he bilked French out of under false pretenses, or this will be going to court.

I don't understand why everybody thinks the contract favored French so much. Would you finance a pool players expenses 100% travel, rooms, tourney fees & gambling money and expect less than that? If I back a player in a match & win I get 50% of the take & if I lose I lose 100%..... & you think I'm stealing for wanting my 50%? The only people who can afford to become backers are people with better math skills then that.
