One Pocket Ghost and Vagabond came over to my house yesterday. Very cool. As usual I was dead out of stroke. Ghost didn't believe me when I told him I rarely play. I frequently go a month or two without hitting ball, but can get in semi stroke in a few days if necessary.

But they were there and we had to play. I have a very nice Brunswick "Gibson" table which is the remake of the Anniversary. It is actually heavier than a Gold Crown. I bought it three years ago when I got this house. It never played right until Ernesto put his hands on it. He changed the rubber to Artemis 55, like the Diamond Pro table has. He put on Simoniz 860 and tightened the pockets to 4". TOO TIGHT! I can't make a ball on my own table. How embarassing. I asked him for 4.25" but Ernesto does things his way. He says it would be good for me. Ouch!

Well, at least Tang likes it. He comes over to practice all the time. That is until he became House Pro at Hollywood Billiards a few weeks ago. If you're in L.A. stop by and see him there. He gives lessons now.

So we played some One Pocket, and Luke (Ghost) made me bet something small (thankfully). Me and my big mouth online, I had to play for some cheese. I felt totally unprepared. We ended up playing Captain taking turns at One Pocket. The winner kept the table. Vagabond chose not to gamble and that may have been a good thing for me and Luke.

We hung out all day and Luke and I maybe played a dozen games or so. He ended up two games winner, so I felt like I escaped. He does move like a Ghost. How I won any games I have no idea. I didn't want to sleep in the streets is what I told him.

We had fun and I'm glad they came by. Luke is from Chicago and Vagabond now lives in Albuquerque. No table time and food and drinks are on the house. The best poolroom in Socal. "Jay's place". Luke, I want a rematch. I'll be ready for you next time.

I'm gonna rename my home room to AZ West.

Max is still around and still has his customers that he gives lessons to but, from what I understand, Tang is the official house pro now.

It sounds like you had more than a good time. I was on the phone with a couple of the AZbrs yesterday discussing pool and cues - which was very cool too - almost as good as it gets in the middle of the winter. But a good number of AZbrs have played pool in my home in the last 2-3 years ---amazing considering the nearest traffic light is about a dozen miles away - the population for the whole state is about 750,000. There aren't too many AZbrs hailing from MT so most of the AZbrs have been from out of state. So I'm gonna rename my home room to AZ Montana:) And if any want to come play, just give me a call and we can do it.

Dinner's on me Scott. Give me a holler when you are here. Come by and I promise to show you at least one shot you don't already know. Maybe even two.

At Derby City, I accidently left my cue in the AZ room all night. I had gone out to start the Ring game and forgot it. Scott held onto it for me and I really appreciate that. I would have been sick if I lost my Josey.

Max is no longer House Pro at Hollywood Billiards. But he still plays there. At least until he moves to the Philipines.

How in the world a sunshine boy like you ended up in Montana is beyond me. You just wanted to be a state champion, right?

Actually I think Jack is coming up to kalispell this weekend to play. I'll see him there. Don

Heh Don,
I will see you. I think I will need to beat a few Madden cues to get to the finals. It should be a good time. Players in this state take their pool very seriously - some good players (still amazes me how far they travel to play all winter long). In the past there's been players from Alaska, Oregon, Canada, WA, Idaho, and east of the Rockies come to play in a little ol' bar box tournie ---- like I said SERIOUS POOL.

Jay I am in the airport waiting for my flight.Since I am getting wireless reception I am able to get into AZB.
whole day today I spent shopping ofcourse in my favorite Melrose boutique stores.Did not get a chance to go to Rodeo drive, well may be next time.
I was extremely comfortable in your home with your hospitality.I did not know yankees could be that hospitable.Right hemicudis?I rarely go to some body`s house to play pool. One time when I was in Newzealand the #1 player of NewZealand invited me to come to his place to hit the balls.I said no,thanks. But I came to your house with all the trust. You did not betray my trust. You are a wonderfull host and I thank you .

Like I said Vag, you are the world's oldest hippy, with all those trendy duds you wear. A rock star should look as good as you did yesterday. I wish I had a picture of you (oh wait I do). I mean those jeans alone must have cost a fortune. I couldn't even begin to describe them. They were far too cool. And with the top to match. Never mind the snakeskin shoes.

I'm telling you, if I didn't know you, I would be asking for your autograph. Please please please take me shopping with you next time. I promise to be a good boy and never make a bank.

Pretty easy hosting you. You don't eat and only drink water. In L.A. we call that a very cheap date. Ghost made up for it though. Did you see that plate of food he guzzled down?

When are you going to be ready to play me?

Just kidding! Your to Powerful!!! :D ;) :D AND to good a teacher.

Luke?

Jay, you said One Pocket Ghost's name was Luke? No way. Either he lied or you didnt hear right. I know him since he was a teenager. We still play at my house once in awhile. Dont worry, he's only a shortstop anyway, so I aint knocking his action. However, due to the code I cant release his real name unless he Ok's it. Next time you're in Chicago, we can play a little at my house. We are about the same speed now.

It's the same guy. He told me ALL about you, as if I didn't know already. He made a whole speech about your house/poolroom. Quite impressive.

You got me next time I'm in Chi town. A little full rack Banks. Hell, you might send a cab for me. Just ask Luke how soft I was.

Have I just heard the sound of that old rusty spring squeaking as the trap is stretched back and set, cheese slid in place?...:D

Yes Doc that's exactly what I heard too! Freddy even conceded that his game has fallen by the wayside. Hmm let me think about this for awhile.
