Action in Frederick, MD?

Good news and Bad news....

Good news...

All Star Billiards in Frederick is definitely NOT closed. I was there yesterday, and will be there a little later tonight. If you are truly interested in action, talk to Kevin. He can either find you some, or play you himself, if the action is right. He plays pretty sporty.

Bad news...

Hagerstown Billiards is in fact closed/out of business. It is a sad sight to ride down US40 and see the "For Lease" sign in front of the building. On a good note, though, Roger is attempting to reopen a smaller pool hall on US11. If it works out, it will be open in Feb/Mar. If not, there will not be much pool action in Hagerstown.

Purd,
The adjacent Fitness Plus business was booming. There was no parking available in the pool room area, etc. The owner of the shopping center apparently wanted the fitness facility to expand into the pool room space, so they arranged with All Star to relocate at the other end of the shopping center. It is much more than 20 yards from where it was...it is more like 150-200 or so yards.

On the down side, it does not have the "pool room" ambience anymore, in that it is brightly lite, and not the quiet, dark pool room scene.

On the up side, it is bright and clean, and has a much better food variety as well as hard liquor. It is still the same bunch of folks, too.

Yeah it does sux that Hagerstown went down. But there is a new one open in Charlestown WV just down the road, and the Blue Fox is in Winchester VA right down I81.

Where is the one going on RT 11?

On the end nearer to the interstate, although ther is no interstate access off Rt 11. There is a road that swings by the edge of Valley Mall from Halfway Blvd to Rt 11 (Massey Blvd) , it dead-ends onto RT 11. The new site is a blue building right across from that intersection. It is only going to have around 10 tables, if everything goes according to plan.

Unreasonable for daily play. Charlestown is about 35 miles of slow road (due to road construction) and Winchester is about the same, but at least it is straight down the interstate.

Yeah it is a haul for daily play, but not to bad for a weekend thing. I live right in between Hagerstown and Winchester in a little town called Hedgesville WV so it is not that bad of a drive for me. Charlestown on the other hand is farther for me. I really hope all goes well for the new one on RT 11, that would only be like 10 minutes from my place.

I guess I forgot how far North Winchester really is...
