Action in your local poolhall-

I'm looking to put together a list of poolhalls across the USA and what if any action can be found there. I want to make this perfectly clear that I do not want any names of players or their speeds just the state, city, Name of hall, and what action if any can be found there. I'm not looking to knock anyones action or out any undercover champion. This is just a list that will give someone not familiar with the room an idea of what they can expect to find if they walk in the door on any given night. It is up to you how you use the information collected. If you go to a room based on the information collected here and get robbed don't blame me. I'll start it out with my local room.

Manchester, CT World Championship Billiards - not much action since Larry's passing but you can get some real cheap 9 ball or the rare cheap 1p. If your a road player coming through CT stop by but don't plan on getting any $500 sets or even $100 sets. If a road player is going to be in CT and wants to setup some action that can be done in advance.

i think crown billiards in new london CT could get some action. same thing, you can get pretty cheap games. if you want a real action, more than $100 a rack, it can be set.

Skyline Billiards Brookyln NY
$500 and up no problem
Everyone that came through got played
The equipment is tight but fair. 9ball and 10ball action very little 1p.

LOUISIANA, Metairie - BUFFALO BILLIARDS-

You can get some cheap action at Buffalo Billiards most any day playing 9 Ball or One Pocket. It is best to show up around 5:00 or a little before. You can ask the bartender or the owner to steer you to some action and they will. If you are a serious player, you are probably known and will have to give up some reasonable weight but even then you will probably still have the best of it. You will still get played.

If you call ahead and we can determine your true speed, you may get some higher dollar action or you might watch some very high dollar action on occasion. The high dollars stuff isn't always there but it's fun to watch when it is there.

If you aren't a known player you can get played for 30 -50 a game one pocket or 20-100 sets of nine ball. That's pretty much it.

They are open 24/7.

If you lay around for a week or so and spread some corn around, you can probably persuade the locals to bet a little higher.

There are far higher stakes to be had if the locals can determine it is an even game or a game that they feel is slightly in their favor.

If you go over to Banger's Paradise (the other pool hall in town) you'll have to deal with the owner telling everybody in the pool hall precisely how you play and you are guaranteed not to make a dollar. The small-minded little man who is a poser of player will play you himself on his gaff table by the bar; probably some banks. He seldom plays any real players when they come to town and when they do, he seldom bets his own money. He won't allow any of his bangers to get any seasoning by playing you so you may as well just stay away from there. That's just the way it is. Most of the players got tired of beggin him to play and simply pass them by.

Anchorage Alaska
Anchorage Billiards Palace- Cheap games on bad tables with a bar type crowd (this is NOT the old Palace)
Minnesota Billiards- Depends on who is there, everything from a buck a game to 500 sets.
Action Billiards- Again, depends on who is there. 20 dollar sets constantly 100 sets of you want them.... then Ive seen 1000s change hands there too.

I heard someone actually won a couple hundred a week or so ago, but I missed it. Does that tell you anything?

Villa Rica, GA

Paradise Billiards off I-20 exit 24.

There is some action every night of the week. The owner will put his money in just to give a road player some action. I wouldn't guarantee any major score, but the room is nice with Diamond bar boxes (they play 9 ball mostly) and one 9 footer for some cheap one pocket action.

This is a player's room with a great owner who works there all the time.

I think Neil is from Grand Rapids MI. I occasionally travel to GR from Indy for work. The two rooms I have played at in Grand Rapids are Alezah Sands East and Alezah Sands West the two rooms are quite different.

The east one is by a mall area and nicer mix of big tables and small tables. I did not see alot of action there I played some $5 9B on the big table about my 3rd visit other than that not much action. I know this room has alchohol sales.

The west one is older and open 24 hrs no alchohol I think. Has big and small tables and billiards tables. I saw some action going on younger players cheap sets 20 to 5 or something. I think the west room is more likely to have action or be able to round some up.

All the pool rooms near me are filled with some BROKE A$$ MFers!

I am playing $5-10 1p or $20 sets of 9b and it is almost invariably the only bet in the whold room.

Bullshi$. I want names, places, times, etc. Names, descriptions man. Come on.

I am from Indy. I play at home mostly on my GC 9' so I do not get out alot. What I know is Indy Pool is dead compared to when I was playing alot in the late 80' early 90's but it is still going on. We have some world class players in the area and they will play if called on but the constant action games that go all day are just not as prevalent. We have 3 rooms in Indy that are real pool rooms plus some bars. I believe most places will give up some play to out of towners.

Miss Cue South Side small action amongst the locals I go here the most as it closest to my house. Cheap 9 ball races. There are some A players that are in here everyday at times and will play the out of towners. Brian Groce came up out of this room. Valleys and GC 9' in pretty good condition concrete on the floor no carpet.

Airport Billiards West Side Indys Action room. Horrible equipment quality on most tables, GC 9 Vally, 10' Snooker Billiards, rough finish on the place it is attached to a big flea market big attrached building with totally seperate entrance. This room is supposed to be shutting the doors might reopen under new management lots of rumors. Most every time I have been in the there I have seen some sort of action not always high but action, 9b and 1p on the big table. Sets and by the game. cheap and a little higher. This spot will get you played but the guys are pretty sharp so you want to start somewhere else first. This where the road men get the highest action but you have to play a killer to get paid (We have a few in the area).

EDIT - 7/18 I stopped in at Airport Billiards and let me tell you they are going down immediattly They had sold most tables no billiards, snooker or Valley left most GC's gone. They had I think 4 tables left and one had a yardsale of crap set on it. I know they will be closed in a week or left. They still had a couple of tables going with action on one and somebody practicing on the other. This was Thursday 5:45 PM. So Long Airport Billiards

Executive Billiard (The Glove Compartment) I guess the glove Gene Catron used to have something to do with this place so that name is still on the window I think. Rough parking lot and building. The 3 tables nearest the counter get the action and a 10' snooker has cheap golf in the afternoon. Lots of bank and 1P mostly cheap amongst the locals but people will play there, somewhat rougher croud at night. GC 9' and a GC10' along with 10' snooker table. Note: This place has excellent quality house cues with good ferrules and tips, you can play pretty well here off the wall. the action tables are in decent shape too.

OK I have dumped my whole town so come to Indy and see if you can stir the pot a little.
