Alex Pagulayan going to UK to try pro snooker

if alex and corey are both making a go @ snooker don't u think that'd make a good interview for azb?

The Lion and The Prince

Alex and Corey face a tough baptism on the snooker circuit. Corey will need to overcome Jamie Burnett, a Scot who has been to the final of a Ranking event. He also beat current World Champion Mark Selby in Australia a couple of seasons ago.
In the other event he will face China's Yang Song - another toughie for him.

Alex fares a little better, but will have a fight on his hands if he plays Jason Weston. Further down the line Burnett could await him too. But the whole show is a minefield stacked with teenage maestros with 8 hours a day practice routines.

Looks like most tournaments you can cash (meaning make money) if you can place 32nd out of 128. 64th or higher in the major events.

Hell if he can get top 32 he's looking as much as the winner of a Derby event. If he stays with friends and tries not to spend too much he could make it. I don't see him winning a World's Title but hey.... At least he's giving it a go!! I would like to see him finish in the money at best. That in itself would be a grand achievement :thumbup2:

Are you sure this is the same Jamie Burnett?
I saw his match at the crucible against Joe Perry and he looked very strong.
Why is he at Q School? especially if he is "fed up"?

Where did u get this?

If Alex n Ronnie played snooker for $500K for 3 days - Alex has the edge. And Alex has the backers that can put up that kind of cash faster than Obama can in his 1st election.

What are you talking about Ronnie Osullivan could spot 40 points in snooker and eat him alive

thanks.
and good catch by the way - you should be doing market research:grin:

I had to find it For Alex...he flew on Wednesday.

I think he's got a chance to make it first year...it's been raining centuries.
He's giving himself three years to make it.

I think that is a realistic schedule if you look at how long it took
The top players to make it

Is he staying at the Q school?

I agree. I doubt Alex will ever in his life have the edge in Snooker against Ronnie. While there is some chance that he could possibly be competitive with Ronnie there is no way Alex will ever be the favorite if they match up even.

I am sure Alex knows that and his backers know that.

However, I don't entirely agree that Ronnie could get away with spotting Alex 40 points a game. Maybe for a little bit but not for long IMO. I think it would be great for Alex to get up there and gamble with the top guys as the way to learn REAL QUICK.

Ok. They don't know what dollars are in the Philippines? No one there has ever transacted in dollars? I mean I am just curious where the idea comes from that just because it's the Philippines the assumption is that everything is in pesos and the amount can't be expressed as dollars.

So I say I won a million dollars in a casino in the Philippines should I be corrected by someone else who is certain I meant a million pesos?

Well, yeah, we have a right to correct you ... because the national currency there is a Peso. So if you're in a casino, you're playing with pesos. You won't walk into an American casino and see people playing for pesos -- why? Because that's not the national currency.

If you're at a house game, you could be playing with USD, I guess.

No you have the right to ASSUME I need correction if that's what you want to assume. You could ASK if I meant pesos if you wanted to assume that and be polite about it. If you want to be impolite you will ASSUME it and make the correction.

However, if I say dollars then I mean dollars and you can assume it's USD.

Because you can also assume that I know full well what the currency in the Phillipines is and am fully able to say pesos when I mean pesos.

We'll know in a couple years. Tho I don't know if he'll be able to smile as much between shots, as this could effect play.

It will be interesting and I wish both luck in getting through Q school. As in all tournaments, the draw could come into play as well.

How does q school work? Is it simply a qualifying tournament or do you have to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency to be allowed to participate?
