Just got mine today! Looks great! Soon to be a collectable, thanks, Freddy! (#39)

Got mine thanks. Looks very nice. HB quality is nice. Does not mention alot of hustlers and high speed players that I thought would be in the book, I think you have a whole nother generation of players to write about with the current 20-50 yr old players. Alot of good hustlers in that bunch did not make your book Freedy.

'Write-on brother!';)....I know, I know...kind of weak.

Beard..take a break...then, hopefully, you will consider another writing project.

Doesn't have to be a 'tome'.

You write em-we'll buy em.

...thanks again for a terrific book with lots of cool stories.

To make the book you had to incur your reputation before the year 2000. No point in me writing about players that I never played or didnt know to well. It's nostalgia!

I think the age of the actual hustler has past. I can't say the exact time it ended but it would possibly coincide with ATM machines and people walking around with a wallet full of credit cards and not money. There was a time when on Friday a guy would cash his pay check and would have it in his pocket.

If he ran out of money over the weekend there were no ATM to hit, so he kept as much money from his check as he could for the weekend. You would be in a place and everybody had money in their pockets, it was a matter of how you were going to try to get it.

Today you are trying to draw from a empty well and it will never change we are in a new time of how things are done and the hustler is a thing of the past. 30 years ago or more when you walked in a place you knew there was money there.

Pool hustling may be a bit like the old west and their gun fighters. The wild west actually lasted a very few years. From around the end of the Civil war to the turn of the century and it was over.
The era of the traveling pool hustler probably lasted about the same length of time. There were always players making a buck playing pool going way back but the automobile put them on the road and this lasted through, (and I am just guessing) around the 1980's. Not too sure a hustler can exist today. Of course much of what I am saying is speculation but I think I am not far off. It is also an interesting subject do debate. Others may have a different opinion.
