How much are you willing to bet?
There's really no way to question the numbers at a tournament without being confrontational. As soon as you challenged the payouts you were taking a side.
As long as the entry fee and prize fund are public knowledge I don't give a hoot how much the promoter makes. No one's forcing anyone to participate. Pool has enough trouble with the bad apples who slow pay or don't pay.
Also, Allen has a long track record of being one of the good guys, so that explains a lot of the reaction.

Lee...Don't bet! Allen makes his entire year's income from this show...and it's a hell of a lot more than what you said. He deserves it too...it takes the entire year to prepare for the next year's event.

well some of you, leehayes, smoothstroke, illgotten gain, and alstl and maybe a couple more, don't comprehend what you read, or put words or meanings in my mouth, that I didn't say!
first, reread my original post, I didn't call allen bad names or say anything bad about the event at all, other then saying wow! I did say that the promoter should make money, nor did I expect allen or any other person to do it for nothing! I also said that a lot of hard work goes into it as well. REREAD!
my reply to all your comments restated the same thing, plus I said it sounded like a fun event. I even tried to state that I was trying to be respectful about what I was saying too. but you 4 monkeys I mentioned above don't seem to comprehend much english. you just want to bash and flame someone becuase they asks questions about the payouts. you aren't allen's cpa's for the event, nor do you know anymore then anyone else about what he makes for this event. so like I said before, only allen knows that fact. just because I ask about it doesn't mean I am the devil! lol
in closing the beaten horse thread, I will say thanks to the folks that were nice an understood what I asked and responded with their thoughts on the event. I have never been to this particuler event, but your comments were informative for me to decide whether to attend. I have no ill will torwards allen hopkins, or his event, he is a legend in the pool world. just like someone said earlier, no one has their arm twisted to attend.

So, in answer to what seems to be your question...you say it's OK for the promoter to make money, but apparently you think Allen is making "too much" money in this instance. So how much is enough, and where is the break point?
I hope Allen makes a HUGE profit. HUGE. No one is being fleeced or taken advantage of at SBE, is my guess, from all I've read and heard. Being successful shouldn't be looked down upon, it should be celebrated.

Without ever being there, no one can make an intelligent guess of what it cost or profits being made.

In my opinion, Allen and Allen jr are under payed for all the work they put into this festival for pool players!

If you want to come on here and make a statement as you did you can expect all responses will not be roses and wine, starting with mine.
You should have entered your figures in excel, it would have looked more professional. I could teach you how to use excel, maybe not.

i did exactly that in my response to what everyone said brian, it wasn't til those particular people started their bashings did i respond with the monkey comment. I didn't bash anyone, allen or his staff. It was just a comment on the amount of money taken out. I am very civil if you are to me, respect both ways you know. This is why i don't come on here that often, people always want to bash.
