Allison vs Karen? head to head record?

anyone know who holds the lead in their head to heads?

I would guess that Allison has the edge.
If anyone on our forum would know for sure, it would be SJM. He has an incredible knowledge of the women's tour.

That's not to say he doesn't know anything about the men pros. He is also top shelf with their stats and info also.

Don't know, Smash, but how about that for the next, "Challenge", match?

I would love to see that. In a long ahead match I'll take Karen (50+ games) of 9 or 10-ball. Johnnyt

Wow, that's a toughie. Very, very, very close. As they have occupied the top two spots in the rankings for seven years now, most of their matches over the years were either matches to win the hot seat or finals. The WPBA title count for both of them in this decade is almost identical --- perhaps Allison has won two more titles than Karen in that stretch. I can only give my sense of their head to head match record, and I'm guessing that Allison has had a very slight edge in WPBA rankings events. That edge becomes quite a bit greater if things like the World championships, the Amway Cup, and the Challenge of Champions are included in the mix.

Not everybody relizes it, but 2007 was a year in which they were, once again, dominant. They came up empty at the first three WPBA events of the year (with Ga Young Kim, Xiatoing Pan, and Kelly Fisher each winning one WPBA title). After that, however, they combined to win the last six major titles in women's pro pool, with Allison capturing WPBA Florida, the US Open and the WPBA Nationals, and Karen winning the BCA Open, the WPBA Midwest Classic and the Challenge of Champions.

Perhaps but Karen no longer occupies a space in the top 2 in case you hadn't noticed.

I'm with you, man. These are very exciting times in women's pool, and the race for number one should be very interesting over the next few years, with each of Allison Fisher, Karen Corr, Ga Young Kim, Xiaoting Pan, Jasmin Ouschan and Kelly Fisher capable of winning enough titles to grab the top spot.

Fifty AHEAD??? They would both be on pensions before that match got over! (-:

With GREAT respect for Karen, I have to go with Allision due to her somewhat better break. Allision doesn't have a monster break by any stretch but Karen...again with genuine respect...ust has NO speed on her break shots.

Regards,
Jim

Race to at least 50 I meant lol. If they go at it, you got action here if you want it. Johnnyt

Who's the better snooker player of the two?

As I understand it, Allison was quite a bit better than Karen at snooker. I've also been told that Kelly Fisher played better snooker than either of them.

Right now, no matter how long the race, I'd reckon that Allison vs Karen in 9-ball is a coin toss.

I knew what you meant...just trying to get a laugh!

What a GREAT match that would be. But it will never happen as an "action match" But a promoted match sanctioned by the WPBA?

But because of the break advantage, the longer the race, the more Allison is favored...IMHO.

What do you think SJM?

I know where the money is for the TV rights!!

I think the break advantage is negligible. Neither dominates matches with their break. Allison is the slightly more polished when it comes to offensive execution. Karen is, quite simply, the best defensive player in the history of women's pro pool. Karen's defensive advantage is, and has been, just enough to neutralize Allison's edge in running the table. This match is a coin toss.

I agree with this match is a coin toss for the reasons you said sjm. I also think that Karen would open up her stroke a little more in a long race...Allison stroke is there from the lag all the time it seems. I'll still toss my coins on Karen. Johnnyt

What's the current score in there head to head matches?

That was the question for this thread Jim. No one seems to know for sure, but I believe Allison is ahead by a few matches. Johnnyt

Yeah... I know.. and I think you are right.. that Allison is ahead a few matches. I know I read that stat somewhere not too long ago but... short term memory loss is at work here.
