Alternative to Gold Crown?

Don't let the gorilla, draggin' their knuckles guys give you shit, If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
Like I said, any table with good bones can be redone with new cloth and rails to play like a GC3. If I am wrong, I'm sure the realkingcobra will correct me.[/

That would be correct:grin:

You can have Diamond build you their table in any wood you choose. Also, check out their Professional table, instead of the ProAM. It has a slightly different shape to it. I personally find the Professional model much more aesthetically pleasing than the ProAM model

Diamond also has different leg options and corner rounding/corner angle options on the Professional. Below is a link to a cocobolo Professional model, with individual legs, and rounded corners.

You can also get a Diamond without the huge "Diamond" engraved and in white on the sides of the table.

How about a 5'x10' Diamond ProAm?

Heyyy, she likes this one.

Wrote a few more questions but edited them away. Seems like the GC vs Diamond is an old debate, so I won't bring it up again.

I'm perfectly comfortable entertaining the idea of buying a Diamond.

Does anyone know of good distributors in the Southern Mass area?

Then buy a Diamond Paragon...and let your wife choose the cloth color:grin:

DO NOT LET YOUR WIFE CHOOSE THE COLOR. Tournament blue goes with nearly everthing, and traditional green does too.

The last thing you want is a Navy Blue table because the cloth matches the furnature or border trim paper on the wall...

I too would vote for the Diamond. They make a great playing table

No, but the Turning Stone Classic is coming up in August in Verona NY and they'll have tournament-used Diamonds for sale after the event... just throwing it out there.

There's a bit of info about it here.

Think about it... you could have a table that Johnny Archer picked the lint off of!

No problem. Rails on the G.C. play more natural to me at least. Not sure about the latest Diamonds to be fair.

I understand that, they're more of what you play on. But the funny thing is, if you played on a GC that has had the rails rebuilt the right way, you'd wonder why all GC's don't play like that one:grin: I don't really care what build the table is...as long as it plays right. What I like about the Diamond's is that they will listen to what makes their tables play better, then take action and make changes. With Brunswick, there's no one to talke to about making needed changes....because they don't care:confused:

Another related question:

My wife and I both love hard woods (alright guys, skip this one.), and for furniture and guitars its been mahogany and rosewood. I've noticed that Diamond will make Professional tables with type 3 legs out of a variety of woods including these. Both woods have rot-resistant properties.

How are they for pool tables? Any experiences?

This is a very true statement regarding how Diamond cares and Brunswick doesn't. It's also the same with all the so called antique table refinishers. Very few of them do anything to make these old tables play well.

Table

I WOULD STAND MY GROUND AND GET THE GOLD CROWN YOU'RE A POOL PLAYER AND YOU KNOW WHAT YOU LIKE.
DID SHE PICK OUT YOUR POOL CUE
IF YOU HUNT DID SHE TELL YOU WHAT GUN TO BUY AND WHERE TO HUNT DO YOU FISH DID SHE TELL YOU WHAT COLOR FISHPOLE TO USE???
AS I SIT HERE IN MY GAMEROOM LOOKING AT MY JETSON G.C IV I COULDN'T IMAGINE ANY OTHER TABLE IN ITS PLACE AS IT PLAYS JUST THE WAY I WANT MY PERSONAL TABLE TO PLAY.
DO YOU PICK OUT HER HOBBY ITEMS???? JUST MY WORTHLESS 2 CENTS
GOOD LUCK ON GETTING YOUR GOLD CROWN:wink:

I'd like to thank you for making me realize how lucky I was/am when I bought my GC and my girlfriend said, "wow, that's beautiful." It was a very simple process for me.

Any halls in the Wisconsin/Iowa area that have your rebuilt rails?
Sorry O.P we have stolen this thread.

Hmm, what about the Brunswick Treviso. How does this compare to the GC?

http://www.brunswickbilliards.com/catalog/pool-tables/treviso.html

The lines on that table are not all that different from the Diamond Paragon, and I think the Paragon may be available with straight legs (not sure about this but I think I saw one on a WPBA event).

In any event DO NOT let your wife choose the cloth color unless you really don't care. Instead, tell her the cloth color shouldn't matter since the table will be covered when not in use and let her pick the color of the cover.
