GOOD LUCK ON GETTING YOUR GOLD CROWN:wink:

Apparently you think that my life is still a single operation.

I'd like to thank you for making me realize how lucky I was/am when I bought my GC and my girlfriend said, "wow, that's beautiful." It was a very simple process for me.

She has great taste!! The beauty of G.C. is timeless......

Any halls in the Wisconsin/Iowa area that have your rebuilt rails?
Sorry O.P we have stolen this thread.

Not that I can remember doing some work in:grin: I seldom ever work on any pool tables in pool rooms....but have been known to once in a while by accident:grin:

I had a similar situation. My wife is the decorator and wanted nice furniture,I wanted a "real" pool table. This is how we solved the problem:

An all cherry wood "Professional" Diamond.

Yes, she likes the wood Diamond tables for sure. Cherry looks great too.

How much did you pick up the Professional for compared to the Pro AM?

Get one of these - a 5'x10 Hermelin Pool table with a thermo-regulated slate. This is at Best Billiards in Las Vegas and plays better than anything I've ever seen across America. It is the Rolls Royce for sure. http://www.hermelin.it

We just bought a brand new 2012 raised ranch with a 25' by 28' unobstructed room on the lower floor (LVL beams overhead). The room is unfinished (no drywall yet) so I can do what ever I want with it... i.e. pool room.

The default table I'd like to buy is a 9' gold crown since those are the competition standard (Snookers RI).

My wife hates the look of the gold crown's, referring them as something George Jetson would use.

So I need something that looks pretty, and something that plays as well as competition tables.

I think this decision will also be like buying a guitar, where I would have to try the brand of table out before I consider buying it. If anyone knows of locations let me know.

Thanks
Take a look At the Brunswick Gibson. Awesome looking in a residential setting and they have been used in televised pro matches.

I have a 9' that was set up by Wes Burden. Plays well and look great. Also has a cue rack that matches the table that is very nice.

Best of both worlds.

Already showed her the Gibson, and most of Brunswick's product line. She doesn't like it because the wood isn't dark enough, and because it is rounded. I like it though.

Dude,

I was joking in my earlier posts about this but I'm beginning to think your lovely wife doesn't want you to have a pool table. You've shown her just about every style of table known to man and she doesn't like this and she doesn't like that. And this is too dark and this is too light.

Maybe you should get to heart of the matter and I doubt it is pool table styles.

Cheers,
Hung

the gold crown seemed too much

but when she saw wil prouts set up,the gold crown gained rep

She doesn't like pool that much, especially if I play it for more than an hour or two. To her it is something to do occasionally during downtime, and especially not when it is nice out side. She'd rather be seeing me play golf than play pool (which I agree with on nice days). Rainy days are ok. And if I have a table at home then I am closer to her and that makes her happy.

She does indeed like some of the tables I showed her, including the Diamond Professional Series, the wood tone of the ProAM, and the Brunswick Bridgeport, Mission, Montebello, Treviso, and Windsor. I'm sure I can't go wrong with either brand if the tables are set up properly. I also have the ambition to save for a while so there is no rush.

Generally I see sellers asking around $2500 for a used diamond 9 pro.

I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a Diamond Professional at the DCC this year. They are basically 5K brand new, not including setup and delivery. The ProAM price is the same (within a few hundred dollars).

You can change the wood options to whatever wood you choose. From the common american hardwoods (maple, oak, walnut, cherry, birch, etc) there was very little difference in price. Less than 500 variation amongst all of them.

If you go the used route, you will have difficulty finding anything other than an Oak finished Diamond. They are the most popular wood out there. I personally hate the look of oak, but you might love it...

If you have the budget for 5K, I'd go directly with Diamond Professional. You can work with them to get any wood you like, and they have a few leg and corner pocket appearance options. There was even a member here who had one built I believe with maple and walnut as contrasting woods. I don't know if any other commercial level table will work with you to basically custom build your table, for just a few hundred dollar premium.
