an open challenge

Unfortunately I do not have the answer to that. I can not speak for Jesse, but I can ABSOLUTELY guarantee that Corey is going to play 100%. I am not directing this post at anybody other than the people that WANT to bet on Jesse and believe he can win. If anyone questions whether this game is on the up and up, then my suggestion to them is not to bet. I am not looking for anyone to bet on Corey, so I know my money is safe. I would really only bet a large amount on a couple of players out there...Chris Bartram, Corey, and Danny B. I am not saying anything negative about anyone else, you just have to be careful, and I know I can trust these 3.
Cheers for the straightfoward response Billy!
Anyway, with this extended discussion and the extra views it pulled in, I hope that provides the catalyst for some backers to crawl out of the wordwork a good match-up to follow. Good Luck.:D

As you said, people want match-ups, but when a thread occurs it is either ignored or the poster is insulted as a woofer. The thread needed a bit of a kick start and clarification to get it going, which is what I was trying to do, but managed to earn myself as ass bite from the ever-ready to bite Watchez:rolleyes: ....again, good luck with it from here:D

thanks for the positive comments...just really trying to stir some action. If I could play at all, I wouldnt have to do this, but unfortunately, I am terrible, so I must resort to this if I want pool action.

would you be willing to get them to play for a decnt amount

Would you be willing to back Corey against Antonio Lining or John Schmidt?

Absolutely. I guess it depends what game. Corey cant mess with John playing straight pool ( I actually staked the nowi nfamous game at the DCC a couple yrs ago for John against Alex.) But if you are talking about 9 ball, absolutely...let me know!

The game with JS i was referring to is straight pool, but how about nineball on a 9' table with Antonio Lining?

also the same game with Johnny Archer?

why dont you ruin someone elses thread

This thread is garbage because of you, not me. As bad as this thread would be if you were a player, it is even worse than I thought. As you have verified in this post of yours, you're not even a player, just a railbird or stakehorse desperate for someone to take advantage of. The suggestion in your post that this is something that you "have to do" is an insult to the intelligence of every poster on AZB.

Well, I continue to say that this is not what the main forum of AZB is for. When threads compromise the quality of this forum, I'll comment.

If I start a thread that, in your opinion, compromises the quality of this forum, I welcome and encourage you to comment, just as I have.

no thanks

Corey and Johnny are friends...i'll ask Corey about Lining...i was more interested in the bar box games because everyone talks on here about how Jesse is the greatest, and they seemed willing to bet on it.

taking advantage of who???

How in the world would I be taking advantage of anybody??? For example, if I bet 2 dollars on this match, and gave my guy a dollar if he won, is that somehow taking advantage of someone??? You need to quit being so bitter and mad at the world...Why dont you take poll, and ask 100 pool players if they felt taken advantage of when they are being staked??

OK, maybe I went overboard with that remark. It's the impression you created, but if I jumped to a conclusion that is false, I apologize. You are, by your own account, playing the stakehorse in solicitation of action in this thread.

As for the "you need to quit being so bitter and mad at the world" remark, thanks for a good laugh. Nobody has ever said that to me before, and it came out really funny.

You presume that passing on Corey's action challenges is appropriate on this forum. Well, we've got many pros with a column on AZB, and I can't recall even one of them ever using this forum for solicitation of action games for either themselves or their friends.. That's because they are too classy to use this forum for that purpose.

Think about it, and you may start to understand why I am bothered by your initial post in this thread. Anyway, it's your right to disagree with me, and if you persist in doing so, that's OK.

You still haven't attempted to explain why you feel this kind of thread is appropriate, and if you wish to do so, I might reconsider my views.

I am sure this is not the first time someone has used this forum to stir up action. We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one, but I can't see how this is offensive to you, the pros or anyone else for that matter.

I thought this WAS a pool forum? This thread is entirely about pool. I don't see why you think this in inappropriate. So you don't like the gambling aspect of pool. Don't read this thread! Stick to threads about cue deflection and practice. I've been lurking around here for a while and I never understand posts by people condemning other peoples threads. If you don't like the content of a thread then don't read it. Forums are for opinions of all kinds and I respect your opinion, but calling this thread inappropriate for a POOL FORUM is absolutely ludicrous.

i would like to mention something

you know jesse is a great player and on a big table to .dont get me wrong i dont want to play him on a bar box.but my point is people say this person and that person is the greatest on a bar box.believe me if archer,wu,lining, corey, and about another 50 guys played on them all the time you would see great play from all of them, but they dont frequent those tables much but if they did youd be hearing things like bustamonte is the greatest bar table player. just my opinion john schmidt

Actually, I am fine with the gambling aspect of pool and have staked players over the years. I haven't given even the slightest hint that I'm not interested in the gambling aspect of pool. A thread such as "If player A and player B gambled even, who do you think would win?" would nearly always capture my attention. A thread like "Player A and Player B gambled last night and this is what happened" would catch my fancy, too. A thread such as "Player A will gamble with Player B will gamble tomorrow night at Poolroom C" usually makes a good read, too.

I am only opposed to the use of the forum for solicitation of action. None of the pros who have columns on this forum have ever used this forum for solicitation of action, and I think that speaks volumes about what most professionals deem to be appropriate behavior on AZB.

A thread such as "who wants to play pool for a kilo of drugs?" would certainly be pool related, but would still have no place here on AZB. There is a line that has to be drawn somewhere as to what is appropriate on the forum, and in my opinion, and it's only my opinion, threads solely intended to solicit action are on the inappropriate side of that line.

I repsect your right to disagree with me, but whatever your opinion is, I won't call your opinion "absolutely ludicrous," as I'm sure it has been carefully considered.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the main forum as a place for mass solicitations of pool action.[/QUOTE]

It's just you.....

OK, that's a civil enough conclusion to our debate. Have a great evening, Billychips.

Guess you haven't read the whole thread, then, because it's also every pro that has a column here on AZB. Not even one of them has used this forum for that purpose.

whats up john

whats up John...you might not remember me...i staked you against Alex in that straight pool game at derby city a few yrs ago...sjm is saying that i am taking advantag of pool players by looking to stake people, just wanted your thoughts on the matter....oh yeah, you should see if Alex wants to play more...i still like your side. ray

you too i am glad that this didnt turn into a bs thread between the 2 of us

Never said that. I believe that players should be staked and I've done it on several occasions. The only thing I said was that the forum is not the place for action solicitations.

Anyway, I don't want to rekindle the fire, we've ended our debate with mutual respect, and that's the way I like it.

Take care.
