an open challenge

This has to be said.

I'm a fan of pool and have been around it for years. I was at the DCC every day and night. I was there when Jessie asked Corey to play on the barbox and Corey said he'd take the 8. This did happen. Now, with that being said, Corey may have been busy with something else and was blowing it off by asking for the 8, might have been feeling Jessie out to see if he could get the 8, or simply didn't have his stakehorse around to bet as high as he wanted to in the game. This is why I'm bothered that this game hasn't been kicked off. I'm not in favor of either player. I'm simply a big fan and promoter of action just like the DCC. That's why they give an Action and Entertainment Award out every year. Now if a professional tournament is geared to solicit action, why would anyone question the integrity of a thread for doing the same? I have read this thread and think it is great. I just hope Bowman's camp gets together and makes something happen.

Now, on a different but not so different note, I have witnessed many tournaments for many years. About five years ago, I was at the Music City Open in Nashville, TN. I was standing nearby when I heard Corey talking to Dee about how much he disliked the bar tables and thought it was all just a big break contest. This shocked me because I had just seen Corey the year before beat Larry Nevel badly on the bar tables at the DCC on Diamond tables at the tournament site, then at a local poolroom on a Valley table. I thought he was a fan of the barbox, but with his conversation with Dee, I found out he currently was not. I then watched a match of his against Jimmy Reid in the Music City. When Jimmy broke, if he made a ball and had a shot, Corey just raked the balls. The entire set went this way with Corey beating Jimmy in a close set. I wasn't happy as an observer because I thought he was robbing the spectators out of part of the show, but I understood his discontent for the bar tables for I too think they are just a break contest. That is why it is too hard to say who the best is on a bar table. With every table breaking differently, I feel the winner in a long session is the first one to figure out the break. Watching Corey for years study the rack, I have often said that if he ever figures out his break on the bar tables nobody in the world will be able to beat him on them. I hope this is the case since he has a renewed liking of the tables he previously cursed. I was just wondering when did Corey get back to liking the bar tables? I feel that his stroke is too good for them. He needs room to let it out.

Anyway, sorry the post was so long but I hadn't posted yet and had much to say. I think this matchup will get kicked off. It's just a matter of timing.

Billy, I like what you had to say about Corey, Chris Bartram and Danny Basavich.

Would you care to identify yourself? I always like to know where my information is coming from. FTR, more people should speak up for the players whom they KNOW are on the up-and-up.
Thanks,
JoeyA

I am not looking for anyone to bet on Corey, so I know my money is safe.

I would really only bet a large amount on a couple of players out there...Chris Bartram, Corey, and Danny B. I am not saying anything negative about anyone else, you just have to be careful, and I know I can trust these 3.

how should corey match up with efren??

If Efren comes to Ohio and wants to play Corey some rack you own bar box 9-ball, I'll put Corey up for 10 or 20 large so we can film and stream it live over the internet.

sure

I was also there when Corey was trying to match up with Jesse. I was going to have part of the action. Jesse's backer or the guy we had talked to earlier about the game lost a lot of money and only had 1000 left and we were not interested in that so Corey asked for the 8 knowing he would not get it and that was an easy way out instead of telling them we would not play for only a thousand.

Is anyone going to gamble or not???

I personally don't think anything is going to happen. If Jesse's backers really think that Corey needed or needs the 8 ball, then where are they???
Lets just all agree to disagree on this. Jesse is the bst bar box player in the world , for a bar box player. However, when the top pros come calling, he cant win. Or, he doesnt have anybody that believes enough that he can win to bet on it.

I personally dont think that anythin is going to happen. We will just have to agree to disagree on this one. The way I see it, jesse is the best bar box player in the world. The best player anyways that consistently plays on them. However, when the top pros come calling (Corey), he cant win. That or he just doesnt have enough people that believe that he can win and are willing to gamble on him against Corey.

I was close!

I figured something like that had to happen. Instead of Corey not having enough there to bet, Jessie's camp didn't have enough for Corey to bet, so he asked for the 8 so they wouldn't play. Got it. My guess was close. Thanks for the real story. I still want to see it happen.

Someone actually knows what was going on. My buddy Mike was bankrolling the game for Cory and was going to give me 1k or so of the action if it got right. We waited around for about an hour then found out Jessie's backer was bust. We politely exited and Jessie's buds started woofing saying that Cory needed to find a new backer. If they only knew what they had a chance to win:eek: Billy ain't the only one who is willing to go in on C.D. in that game.

Who's the best player

All I know after seeing a few weeks worth of Dennis Orcollo, I wouldn't bet on anyone against him. Big table, little table, Eight Ball or Nine Ball. This guy may be the best poolplayer in the world right now.
He IS the real deal! There are good players and there are great players and Dennis is one of the latter.
In Reno, no one wanted any part of him. NO ONE!!
The most impressive of the American players was Shane. He keeps getting better and better. I see him as being the next Johnny Archer.
All I can add about Dennis is WOW! The man is a once in a lifetime player, like Efren. Everyone was saying how easy he makes it look (that's what they used to say about Lassiter), but I saw him doing some very subtle things like how he broke up balls and directed the cue ball around other balls. In a word, Amazing. You just have to see it. In my mind, one of the most talented players I've ever seen.
I know we have some very knowlegeable people on here, so I choose my words carefully. Wait till you see this guy. He is in another league. He will make a believer out of you. Right now, he is my Tiger Woods to be.
If he plays Corey, I'm betting on Dennis big time.

i already told you guys!

Sorry, but I got to get to the point here....what does Shane want to do with Corey??? You can win more money than you can spend if that kid can beat him even, on a bar table, a big table, on any table for that matter. At any game, what do you want to bet??? when do you want to play??? lets do this once and for all!!!

Jay,
Have you seen Marlon Manalo play yet? The big four used to be Reyes, Parica, Lining/Luat/Andam, and Busta. The new big three seem to be Orcullo, Manalo, and Gallego All of these guys play the eight better than our top guys for the dough. IMO

You said you would take Dennis over Corey....what about if Shane and Corey play?

i wasnt at the DCC but one thing i guarantee is that jess will play anyone that comes to the QC " quad cities". for mister billy, jess will definetely play bartrum and was going to play cory. if a big set was to be set-up we r here, and more than willing. jesse doesnt pay attention to damn near anything on here because most of what is written is here say or has been fabricated. if anyone does want to come and play though, bring like 10 guys with ya. we have about that many master/ pro players in our little 300,000 person area. we dont have any millionaires that travel with us to put up 20k at a drop of a dime. however, in this area their are plenty of people that will put up some cheese. anyone that comes through gets played everytime. it just so happens that noone ever stops or noone drives on interstate 80 anymore. dubin stopped by like 3 yearrs ago. marco occasionally stops bye and i think steve davis came through. thats about all in the last 5 years. i do occasionally like reading this stuff. so please continue to debate, i like reading about my brother.

i dont think we need 10 guys

Why would we need 10 guys? I dont understand this comment? Do you have anyone to play Corey? Is your brother going to? Lets quit talking about it and do it then. He isnt going to play. Just like he isnt going to play Chris bartram the game that he offered 2 years ago. Stop talking about it. It is a mute point. He cant beat Corey on a bar box and he cant get there against Chris on a rotation of nine footers and then a bar box. If you want to guarantee some action, we will be glad to come. oh yeah, and if you really have 10 MASTER players, how about this, Chris will play 5 of them even, and Corey will play the other 5 even. Bet whatever you want, just not monopoly money.

hey man u might have a big bank roll but im not on here to talk shit. i made a comment to bring a few extra players here and they all can get action. im not trying to come on here and run my mouth. you also said in an earlier post that jesse had action between all 3. all that i stated is that your not going to bring chris here and play some even, strictly, on the bar table. its a really bold statement to say cory and chris will play 5 a piece. takes a lot of heart to say that beings that only one of them can try chris on the big table "james baracks". was just trying to make a point that most players avoid this area knowing there are too many guys that will get down. anyone that comes to our town can get played. no reason to get all big and bad and run your mouth because that's not what im trying to do. plus cant is a very, very, masculant word that should never be used in any seen with good players. anyone ccan beat anyone at anytime. if you havent figured that out yet then my condolences
