I spoke to Andy Gilbert yesterday and got some great news. He is building a replacement cue for Rob Saez. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think this shows great generosity. Rob loved his Gilbert cue and took down champion after champion with it. When that cue was stolen, Andy didn't leave Rob to take the loss alone.

A cuemaker who looks out for his pro player...who chooses to share the loss when a cue is stolen...this kind of care and integrity is rare in my opinon and deserves to be recognized.

wow my spelling sucks - should have read heart - not heat. and yes having heart and class is always good. we need more of that in pool.

Can ya tell Andy my cue was stolen too. It had Diamond inlays and tons of Ivory. Anything with those combos would be good. JK:wink:
He sounds like a great guy to deal with.:)
 
Andy is a great guy and a great cuemaker. I play and break with a Gilbert and I love 'em.

I talked to Robb at the Open and he was really upset about his cues and I am glad Andy stepped up and helped him out.
 
Not only is Andy Gilbert among the world`s greatest cuemakers, he and Vicki have hearts of solid gold. It does not surprise me that Andy stepped up to assist Rob Saez, it is entirely in accordance with the way Andy approaches the game, his cues and everyone that enjoys the sport. Way to go Andy!

I'll provide Robb with a custom cue case if he wants it. I don't have Robb's contact information so if someone can pass this on and hook us up that would be great.

We had good time at the Charlotte tournament and I get where Robb is going with his game.

I'd be happy to provide him with a case for free no strings attached - this is NOT a sponsorship, I don't want to market the association, just tell him to contact me and we will build him what he wants to replace what he lost.

Andy is certainly a stand-up guy, and very few would do the same thing in that situation.

This kind of information kinda makes my day!!
 
This sort of generosity and dedication to the game and those that play it is totally in character for Andy. He is one true class act indeed! I'm very proud to be able to call him a friend for the last 14 years. He has been a true supporter of pool for decades and if you get a chance to buy him a beer, do so! He'll be the best company you could hope for, but keep him off the "rocket fuel" or things could get rowdy! :) I don't know Rob personally, but I believe him to be a great representative of the sport from what I've heard and I hope he takes his new Gilbert straight to the top. Best of luck Rob and kudos to Andy, his wife Vicky and all the rest who thankfully are more interested in keeping great players playing rather than what they can make monetarily from them.

Doesn't it just make ya feel frickin' good when you see or hear of someone doing the "right" thing unselfishly? Next time ya get a chance to do someone a favor...JUST DO IT whether friend or foe! :) I'm doin' my happy happy, joy joy dance now.....

It's brutal sometimes.

In Vegas, during a match where the tables were separated from the spectators by barriers and a table my friend had his Joss West stolen in between games.

Dave Jacoby and I were talking once and someone came up and asked him a question and in that same moment another person (accomplice) took a cue off the rack and got away. I didn't notice it and Dave caught it out of the corner of his eye.

I once had a NICE Jacoby stolen, butt only, by a guy who noticed I had left it in a case as I was doing demos. He came up and bought the case full price, no haggling, no receipt, cash and walked away quickly. I realized it a few minutes later when I was looking for the cue to do another demo.

We caught a guy who lifted an Instroke off the wall at one of the events, but we would not have if someone else hadn't pointed it out to us.

There are some truly scummy scummy scummy people out there.
 
By the way I just want to cast my vote for Andy as one of the real GOOD GUYS in this business!!!! He is down to earth and always fun to be around.

Wish I would never have sold my Gilbert :-(
 
Andy Gilbert is a pillar of the Billiard Community, a steadfast rock and a great, great cue maker.
