SJM..Not just for the sake of arguing...But are you forgetting his opponent was SVB ?...This was the most unexpected one pocket final EVER at DCC !...There were about two dozen 'much better' one pocket player's in the field that year..They either cancelled each other out, or Earl and SVB drew around them !..Not to make light Earl's amazing talent at 9/10 ball, but calling him an 'all-around' player, IMHO is a bit of a stretch !

Both have improved their one pocket game considerably since that time, Shane more than Earl.. But both are still considerable underdogs to the top echelon 1P player's. (Busty, Alex, Frost, even Gentile, etc.)...I would lay considerable odds Earl will never see another DCC finals again !..The odds of another Earl/SVB final, are off the charts ! (and yes, I WILL book either one !) ;)

Obviously, Dick, you know ten times what I know about 1-pocket, but still, I'm confused by your post.

You may not like Shane's 1-pocket game but after winning the 2011 DCC 1-pocket, he repeated in 2012 at the DCC 1-pocket and came 3rd in the 2013 DCC 1-pocket event last year. He also won the 2012 US Open 1-pocket title. Time and time again, Shane proves he's one of the most elite in the 1-pocket discipline.

Earl's fine effort in 2011 is, in my opinion, not diminished by the fact he played Shane in the final.

I've enjoyed watching a lot of Shane's 1P matches and they are thoroughly entertaining. He plays a lot of high skill shots and some of his outs are tremendous. The recent TAR match between Shane and Efren was especially great (Shane lost it, but it could have gone either way, and they both had several moments of brilliance).

Shane beat Efren in the Philippines with 8/7 using a "house stick"......he also is the favorite against anyone with "a ball"......saying Shane isn't a top notch One Pocket player is naive'.
 
Is earl going to make any money on this whole Documentary thing you're marketing around his supposed 1 million dollar payout? Or is all that money going in your pocket CJ?

self meditation vs. falling asleep

I understand better now about what you were saying C.J. - Do you think it's possible that the great Luther Lassiter was actually meditating? I only mention this because I remember asking you years ago about straight pool and you said you read a book about the game and then won the first major tournament. I recollect you saying that you thought the game was easy, then I asked you your high run and there seemed to be a ? mark in my view. Either way if a player falls asleep while waiting for their turn at the table I would like to imagine a dream about staying in the moment and or preparing to run a thousand. The best rotation pool I ever saw was when Earl had that huge run in your pool room (the million dollar run). That was by far the best nine ball I have ever seen played, even if he did make it on the break more than once. I prefer straight pool and one pocket over nine ball, but Earl played well that day (in the PCA era).
 
He is an awesome player but my lasting memory is of him blowing up a tournament host and opponent that I saw on YouTube. However; I would love to get him to share his vast knowledge of the game in hopes of picking up some pointers&wisdom.

My high run right now is 134, and I really haven't played it that much. I did run 105 last week practicing, and to run 200+ I'd have to take it seriously for 3 weeks and get some input from top players like yourself or Mike Sigel.

Yes, Danny, and I, too think that Straight Pool is a beautiful form of 'Pocket Billiards'.....it's more like classical music and the great straight pool players are directing an orchestra when they get in "the Zone" (just using a music analogy for a change) ;)

Earl was definitely a "pool playing artist" that week at CJ's.....it was an amazing performance, and I'm glad to have been a part of it along with all the other PCA players like yourself, Danny.

The Shipping delays have got us a week behind on our orders.

Earl comments on his attitude towards his profit of the Million Dollar Challenge on the documentary. He also tells everything he did to prepare to do it a month prior AND what he did with a few hundred thousand right away.

Earl and I have had many business dealings over the years and prefer to keep the details to ourselves......this is customary from our experience.
