Post game interview, Darren was gracious. They all avoided discussing Earl's antics. DAZ said the game was tough, the smaller pockets (4.25") were an advantage to him. There was only 1 break and run, so it was a game of safeties and kicking. He said the table was so difficult, that only by playing someone on it under pressure can the difficulty be appreciated.
DAZ said he has learned how to better accept his own mistakes and he was focused on his own play, not distractions. He thought the table did not play to Earl's strengths because of the tight pockets. He inferred that Earl allowed the table and his own mistakes to get to him mentally. He said it was a grinders game and he came into it prepared to grind. He likes the game and is excited about future 4 pocket matches. Archer and Morra will play next. The commentators gave him props for keeping his cool. He clearly did not approve of Earl raking (forfeiting) after a mistake.
An excellent point DAZ made was he likes the format much better than a long race. He compared it to tennis. Spectators like hill-hill or close sets and competitors know that each new set is a new match. He said long races are boring compared to playing sets.
