Any suggestions on who to finish a John Davis blank?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on getting one of those beautiful John Davis blanks and finishing it to a cue. Love the way they look, and I hear they hold up very well.

Has anyone here have any luck with a cuemaker who would take on such a project and convert it to a player? Something reasonably priced is very important of course.

Just wanted to get a feeler as I've heard some cuemakers can get a bit offended if you present them with another maker's blank to finish.

I've had several done by different cuemakers, all came out great. Decide who you would like to build it and talk to them. If they are offended, thank them politely for their time and move on to next on your list. Each cuemaker uses his own tapers in the build, which defines their own particular "hit", and each has his own price for the build. I haven't been turned down by many, as working on a full splice John Davis blank is a real pleasure. Enjoy!
 
I have an beautiful cue made from a Davis blank. It was done by Jon Spitz and he did a fantastic job! Send him a PM, his user name is Jon Spitz.

I have another that Richard Neighbors finished for me, but as far as I know he isn't doing anything other than repairs right now.
 
Wow, that is absolutely beautiful! May I ask what price range I would be looking at for Jon to do something similar? You can PM me if you want to keep it private.

I'll second that! Greg finished my John Davis Blank. It came out exactly as I hoped it would. Spot on in ALL respects.
 
I'll agree with the John Davis recommendation or how about Tim Prince, he's doing fantastic work.

I suggest az member 63Kode I have seen some of his cues and they
are very impressive one of the best finishes I have seen ! I promise you wont be disappointed !!!

Alex Brick at JOB Billiards in Madison,TN 615-868-4270. He suggested a full splice blank from John Davis and then finished it for me with an OB Classic shaft. I could not be more pleased, PS. the price was right, but most importantly the quality is first class.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, but I'm swamped for a good while. John Davis and Tim Prince are doing collaboration cues, and they would be a good choice.

These two guys made mine and I couldn't be happier.
You can't get any better coming from the King and the Prince.

how about The Mottey crew ( Mr. James White!!!- Barry Szamboti, Jacoby does excellant finishes. Andy Gilbert, Joey in Calif-
 
They can be cored, and if you order directly from John, he will do so if you request it. They don't "need" to be.
