Are there any tournaments recommendation from you guys for this weekend? I am in El Centro now, which is a couple of east of San Diego and 4 hours west of Phoenix. Vegas is 7 hours away and I just cant do that far of a drive due to work. I think the farthest would be Phoenix and thats pushing it because I did make that drive last Saturday to watch Scott Frost and Fast Lenny play, (dam they're good). Watching the players there really made me feel like a banger, but it was great to actually watch that calliper of player play.

Im willing to donate to play in a tournament and just enjoy watching the great players play. Not looking for action so please dont read into this and think I'm out looking for a game. Any suggestions for a place to go would be helpful.

Thank You

If you drive up to Bellflower...the world famous Hard Times is having their first Sunday of the Month event....which typically draws big names. It is a fairly famous monthly event.

I second that. It's quite a drive from El Centro but many of the best players in the area show up to this monthly event, as well as any other players that happen to be in town at the time.

You might want to check and make sure it's on, just because it's Easter and all.

Just called and talked to Hugo and he told me that they are having the Sunday tournament, but he wasnt sure about wether or not they are having the Saturday tournament not. Its a four hour drive but I dont think I will ever have the chance to be this close to it again, so I better take advantage of it while I can.

Thank You for the advice Melissa and Dogs.

Any suggestion for hotels?

I'll have to get back to you on the hotels, Bellflower is not a resort area, lol.

Are you looking to stay near Hard Times or anywhere?

You will see a bunch of really good players there, all the top guys from the area play in that monthly tournament. I'd meet you there if I didn't have family commitments on Sunday.

I did a quick peek on Expedia and there is the Crystal Hotel and Casino for $55 but it gets a pretty crappy rating from guests.

The Guesthouse Hotel-Norwalk ($56) and the Quality Inn and Suites - Artesia ($64) got better ratings from guests. For more money there is a Marriott in Norwalk ($149) and one in Long Beach ($189).

Dogs,

Thanks for looking that up for me, I talked to an employee at Hardtimes he said theres a DaysInn just up the street so that is probably going to be the best option for location.

Its a shame that we wont be able to meet up when I'm there but family does come first.

If there are any other AZR's that are going to be there then please dont be shy. It looks like I will try and make the Saturday one pocket and the Sunday nine ball shoot. I will be the 6-2, 280lb, half bald, white guy that is missing the pocket by 6 inches and hitting the ball way too hard.

Thanks again.
Paul

Hey bud, I would have liked to have met you, did you even say hello?

Let them know you are coming in to go to Hard Times in Bellflower, they might give you a discount. They are the host hotel for the Hard Times-Mezz 10 ball open in May.

That's true. Had he stay in El Centro, that earthquake would've rattled his brains!

I ended up missing the Hard Times tourney and was visiting some friends in Ventura. We all felt the quake, and we're an hour north of LA!!!

I also missed the tournament at the Hard Times because I was not feeling well. I'm just wondering for anyone that was there if the quake had any effect on any of the games that were in progress. It shook pretty good here in Upland. Oh and thanks for asking I feel much better today.
